The USA conducted 215 Atmospheric nuclear tests, many in the USA. Russia has about 750 operational nukes on missiles, including those at sea and many are tactical, most are stored. If it used all of them on America 20% might fail and others could be intercepted with and AMD system. In reality most would likely be destroyed before launch by America, and few might get through, but a few would be enough. Rusia on the other hand would be extinct as a nation, just by a single US nuclear submarine firing retaliatory strikes on cities and towns, there are other systems that would destroy the Russian nuclear capability. America will not be alone in nuking Russia; however, the Brits and France have those subs too and other systems as well. The Russians have many enemies and will want to spread those nukes around to their various enemies so it is unlikely America would get them all and many are tactical, and they are old and probably have not been properly maintained, the money used for yachts.

Nuclear war is a deception. We allow dictators to trample continents because they have nukes. And if one was to launch the first, automation would decimate our tiny planetary bubble with the counters. We all were robbed to build useless weapons for profits.
"Nuclear War"? Total annihilation on the planet. Or invade for free card?

Mankind and war will always be inseparable unless their is a huge culture change.
All the Nuke talk is crazy,any use would set a terrible precedent,shake the world to it's core,prob. shock economics and stocks,and raise tensions to heights not seen,some kind of negotiated settlement must occur.I understand Russia's history of being invaded and their anxiety feeling surrounded,but Putin errored and nobody wants to invade Russia,they've always had the nukes to guarantee Russian sovereignty and sanity HAS to prevail.

IF there came a time when countries were jumping on their nuclear launch buttons i wonder if France and England would be launching at each other?- Just for old times sake. Perhaps Germany could see it might be able to rule Europe again like its always wanted to and launch on them to. Perhaps Spain would again rule Europe in the aftermath?
