Nute shock vs burn/deficiency...or is it the same thing?

Background: 4 dwc, 200ppm@.5 tap water,4 different strains, 6 bulb t5(354W), ambient air temps 68-75, water temps 62-67, AN "PH perfect" connoisseur grow w/B-52, appx 11LPM per bucket air supply...I think that's the important stuff..

Is it possible to temporarily shock a plant when increasing nutrient levels until it acclimates to the stronger solution? When I started feeding 1/4 strength the lowest leaves got some small brown spots, what looks to be a Mg or PH issue, but it bounced right back and new growth was great. I just upped the nutes to 1/2 strength and the lower set of leaves did it again ,only worse than the first time..after 2 days it's fine. new growth is great, those older leaves are dying. I went from 200ppm@.5 tap water for the first week and a half, to around 600ppm@1/4 strength(200 tap, 400 nutes), to 900 ppm@1/2 strength( 200 tap, 700 nutes)..seems way to strong to me but I've talked to AN a couple times and they say it's fine. Plants seem to be doing ok, I don't think I'm going over 1/2 strength with this stuff unless the plants scream for more.

So could it just be a temp shock? Has anyone experienced something like that? I'm used to dirt where shit happens on a slower time scale..lol..
