Nutrient amounts: Mixing for soil vs. hydro

Okay, so...I have a small container of 20/20/20 powder that I want to mix for hydro. The direction on the side say: 2tsp per gallon (or whatever the measurement), but that is for watering over soil. My question is, do I use the same strength for DWC hydro solution or do I use less nutrients because the roots are going to be sitting right in it?

Add 1 teaspoon of 20-20-20, water-soluble fertilizer for each gallon of water. Stir the fertilizer with a spoon(water pump is better IMO, let it mix and fall back in like a waterfall a bit more air in the water.) until it's fully dissolved. but some plants prefer a fertilizer solution diluted at half- or quarter-strength, so less is more, always correct deficiencies faster than playing catch up on nute burn or toxicity’s

Avoid excessive applications of fertilizer. I wouldn’t oversaturate it with 20/20/20 solution. Avoid contacting the foliage with the fertilizer solution.

So I want to use about half of what the jar recommends. is that universally true (Unless it's made for Hydro, of course)?

Double checked the jar. It says 4 tsp/gal for a garden and 1tsp gal for house plants. Again, these are directions for soil and I'm using a DWC hydro. So, do I still want 1 tsp per gallon for the DWC bucket or am I using half (.5 tsp per gallon)?

no, alot of peeps use Jacks 20;20;20 just letting you know you'll need cal mg too. i would measure out a certain amount into a gallon of water and see what the ppm/EC is before you add to plants. that will give you an idea of how much. it will be very strong compared to others. if not, you will burn the crap out of them.

that's what i said: you need to figure that out.

if i were doing it, i'd measure out 1 gram in a gallon of water and see what the EC is .

Ahhh! Okay...sorry for being dense about this. I really am new at it. There is a TON of info out there but not much for folks who know nothing, like me. lol.

I'm still waiting on the delivery of the EC/TDS meter. Once it gets here I will get started. Any idea what EC I'm looking for?

and i should add:
measure 1 gram of the powder in a gallon.
then measure 1mL of the cal/mg in a gallon. (assuming it's liquid)

then we'll know what's the total.

for your other question: 0.3 seedling, 0.6 early veg, 1.2 veg and flower , 0.6 end of flower is a very basic scale to use that worked for me.

Im new too so I do know much either. I just search a lot of my question on here. There’s a ton of info.
