How much money have you got, the more you borrow the less you have in the pocket at days end, ...always good to have some retail experience, as many who do ...don't give a poop about what they sell ...so long as its a sale!

you need to work out a business plan. any grow shops nearby? mostly hydro in your area? what are rents like on the right location? you'll need more money, unless you are connected with the supplier.
I would not start a small business now. I would convert that money into some real wealth, for future security. if you are paying high interest on anything, pay it down, or off. some bullion is nice. seed. tools. Gatling gun. once you have assured future security, then risk wealth on a business venture. imo.

if you have a big yard, compost, do vermiculture. get free coffee grounds and what-not to feed the worms. make teas, and sell to growers via Craigslist. worm poop is always in demand with soil growers. establish contacts in the community. get your feet wet, before diving in. again; imo.

check your local laws. make a list of all relevant questions pertaining to the start-up and success of your grow shop. formulate a business plan. there are business plan templates. take Intro to Business at the community college. you young people are lazy in mind, lazy in body, and have imploppah attitude!

I started my hydro store two years ago but I spend another 8 years working in two hydro stores. We started with $30K CDN BUT I had money to live on for a year so didn't take a pay cheque for a year. We already knew lots of growers so we had customers right out of the game. All the profit for the first year went into buying as much stock as we could. For a while I couldn't get some stock as my previous employers found out I started a store and called all the local wholesalers and told them not so sell to me. Some are still not wanting to give me an account LOL but all others told them to pound sand. So what does the old employer do, they start up another store in the same town which is 50KM from their nearest location. So to fight it back I put up a 4x8 sized sign almost right autocross their store about 50 feet away LOL. Ohhh that ruffled some feathers but man was the some sweet payback. I then lowered my prices way down to make them suffer even more since their overhead on rent is so high where they are located.

Anyways if you have a location that need a hydro store I would say you "could" get away with around $35K of stock if you have enough money to live on for a year or so. I'd say 55-65K in stock if you plan on taking in income right away.
