Nutrients For Next Years (My first) grow

Because 20-20-20 is a very high NPK ratio from what I understand..
The 20-20-20 refers to % weight. So, it's very high strength. I.e., you're getting more for your money.

The ratio is flat: 1-1-1. Some people grow with 1-1-1 all the way through. (I'm basically doing that with the MG Tomato.). There's nothing wrong with starting that way. But, eventually you'll want to experiment with raising N in veg, and PK in flower.

It doesn't matter what products you use to do that. You could use Jack's 20-20-20 as your base, and raise N using AK Fish (or MG All Purpose which is 3-1-2 ratio). That's why I encourage you to stay away from the boutique "lineups." Focus on the ratios. But, you don't have to get into that to start. Just use a 1-1-1 product and fine tune it later. I.e., you don't know what is better than 1-1-1 without doing it a time or two.

The only thing which is worth considering is whether you want to do organic or synthetic. If you are leaning toward organic, I would use a base like Grow More Sea Grow All Purpose (16-16-16). That's the same 1-1-1 ratio as Jack's. But, it has organic sources. From there you can increase N with AK Fish (another organic). And, raise PK in flower with the Flower & Bloom product (which, like All Purpose, contains organic sources).

If you want to do more organic growing, I don't think it makes sense to use Jack's. But, Jack's is a great product and I would use it before MiracleGro. (I'm just playing with MG because some people don't want to spend $30 on a tub of Jack's. $6 at Home Depot is preferable.

Do your research about compost tea, if you're into organic gardening, I think there is a whole thread on here about it, DO NOT USE MIRACLE GROW seriously....

My homies who grow professionally have been raving about vermicrop soil/nutes but idk where you are located so idk if you have access to it.

Its my first grow too and I bought the complete foxfarm nutrient line, grow big, big bloom, and the flowering mix plus some bells and whistles (micronutrients) for about 200 bucks. Should be enough to last me my whole grow and hooeully produce a good product, I'm not sure if j would use fox farm again though, may try roots organic next time.

Good luck :)

Bro.
Hello all,
So Ive been an avid smoker for a year or two now, and now I want to grow to save money. Ive been reading alot about nutrients and when to feed but I still dont get it. So from what I understand this is best for the following:
Vegetation stage (Not budding, mature enough to take nutes):
Nitrogen is good for this stage
Budding(White hairs, stop pinching at this point)
Potassium is best here
So Ive heard a lot of different things about soil and nutrients and fertilizer, but my main question I guess is;
Could I use banana peels for potassium? I heard if you place the peel like 3-4 inches from the stem it works for other types of plants, would this work for Cannabis? Also if it helps I am in the NorthEast and am gonna grow Girl Scout Cookie. This is my first grow, so please try and keep it in simple terms as I am a massive noob :P
I suggest to all noobs to check out hempy bucket and Lucas formula. It's a really simple way to grow. Cheap and easy. Lucasformula.com. Check out @ISK threads where he explains in detail how to do it and be successful.

Okay, sounds good. Ill def try your method, since it is pretty simple :P. But yeah next spring when I start my grow (Im going to germinate and start indoors in the late winter, I just cant have the plants indoors when they start to bud because of smell) Ill keep you inmind if I run into troubles with stuff, because like I said this will be my first grow. But Ive been doing a lot of research and planning so hopefully it will all go smoothly.
Right on dude, growing outside so much fun! I can't wait to start getting my next outdoor grow ready for next season. But yea for sure just pm me if you need anything. I do the same thing though, start inside then put them outside (slowly of course) so we should be at similar points starting next outdoor grow season.
