odd smell? health risk?

Hi RIU, Two days ago I choped a plant that had developed some sort of mold. The leaves around the bud turned gray/black and it was kind of browny/gray colour inside the bud and i binned all the mouldy bud. when smelling the bud that looked alright it had a weird smell which i cant explain. lol was wondering if this weed is good to smoke?

also all the bud smelt the same and i didn't smell the bud which was def mouldy because i didn't fancy sniffing all them mould spores. also i harvested one of the same strain 2 weeks earlyer and it smelled more fruity/petroly where as the plant that was mouldy only has a hint of that smell. Btw the strain is ww auto from visoin seeds.

Don't smoke mold bro, Your just asking for respiratory problems. Personally I would think that if there was mold on some of the plant then there is mold everywhere that you can not see and if it were my dope it would just go straight into the garbage can. I would not risk my health smoking it.

I would be paranoid as hell about smoking it. The smell is the bacteria. Just because it hasn't got the black look of the more noticeable pieces you trashed , doesn't mean it isn't affected. I've heard that mold can fudge you up pretty good. Maybe even kill you! Common sense tells me,"don't smoke it!" I could be wrong though. Wait for more replies. Sorry too, man! That sucks to have to get that far and it go to shit. My buddy down the road lost his last crop to mold. Good Luck in the future! Keep that humidity in check during flowering!

I use small 4" 12vdc computer fans on the crop twenty-four hours a day. This keeps the air flowing through the plants during the 12 hour dark period.

I wouldn't risk smoking it but I would be curious and look at the buds thru a mag glass just to see how far it spread on the buds. I thought I read somewhere that bud rot basically starts from inside the bud so by the time it makes it to the outer part that we can see it is much too late to save.

thanks for all the replies :) . I am torn :( as this is the last off my weed and my area is dry. But as I have asthma I just cant risk breathing in to much mold spores. Here are some pics buds with close up.

do you reckon you could make canna butter with it? cause i know you can make iso with moldy bud so would you not be able to filter the butter afterwards?

^I was thinking the same thing(ISO Oil)You would think that the iso and heat would kill the spores, right?

I mean this guy is in need but we certainly don't want to encourage a dangerous practice like smoking mold unless it can safely smoked by destroying the spores.

I was reaserching and found that freezing temps kill mold, so could I freeze then smoke? lol yous have all been very helpfull. lol i have been texting and got a hook up, im picking up 1/4 ounce in morning lol ill just have to settle with a few pints for tonight. lol im gonna do some more research on killing mold incase this happens again. lol thanks again everyone :)

Upon further reading I have discovered that although Any form of extraction will, repeat will kill the spores it is spore toxin that will remain and that is just as deadly as the mold itself. Get rid of it bro.
