i still cant get it to work. i have a 450 cfm fan and a speed control dialed doen to about 1/4 that speed and it still dosen`t cut it. funny the girl in the store said they had never had a complaint about them yet, but you are the first i have seen that say they work.
how do you recharge yours, cause i bought 3 of them and they just sit in a box now. they seem ok for veg but not my last flowering

I talked to the guy at my hydro store and he told me that he has had nothing but complaints about them and warned me not to buy one. I got the Organic Air Charcoal Filter instead. It's the one that looks like a car air filter. He actually warned me about that one too and said he wasn't sure because it was new. Turns out, that thing sucked just like the Odor Sok. You need the actual carbon pellets and many pounds of them to cut the serious weed smellage.

i have probably spent 1000 bucks in the last year on trying different filters and the only ones are activated that i would recomend.

I actually don't recharge mine. I did that one time in the washer and what a bitch. It did make it smell "new" again, you know that carbon type smell. But it took so long to get back to form and I had to cut it open to do it.

I was having problems with mine at first also. I was using a blower and pulling through the odor sok and just exhausting out the duct of the fan. I found out that my blower sucks air not only from the intake duct, but also from the part of the fan that has a grate over it. So when I was pulling the air through my odor sok, it was only pulling some of the air through the sok and the rest through the other part of the fan. I have since changed it to blow through the odor sok and that fixed the problems.

These things are not 100% by any means. They don't work as well as a real carbon filter, but in my experience, they cut the smell by like 80%. I don't mind a little bit of smell. I exhaust directly outside, and don't have any problems. I live in an apt complex and you can't really smell it at all. Before I got the Odor Sok, you could smell my grow like a block away. But now, its only if you walk in my spare room, or during the last week or 2 of flower.

For someone that just needs some sort of odor control, and donesn't have a ton of money to throw around, I would suggest an odor sok. However, if you are looking for 100% odor reduction, I would suggest an actual activated carbon filter.

even with the correct ones, someone that grows knows that smell also. ya i had the same issue with it clumping up.

So the regular carbon filters have that carbon smell to them also? I would assume even worse since there is so much more of it. So do they cover up the bud smell, but still leave you with a carbon smell? If so, that kind of sucks. But at least some one else who grow wont call the cops on you. They may rob you, but at least you stay out of jail, lol.

i`m legal. so it is the sticky fingered pricks that concern me. for the first week my house just wreaked of it

That is kind of interesting. I didn't think they would have any smell to them.

Mine is legal too, but if they happen to come after 5pm or on a weekend, they can't verify my rec so I may be screwed for a min. And that would suck.

At least after the first week that smell went away. That is not too bad considering they last a year or so.

Ok, i purchased an 18" (long) foothills filter to replace the odor sok. The foothills filter says it has 8 lb of activated carbon, i will report back in a week or so to let you guys know if it is another flop.

Bonz, its a bit late on this response, but i read for optimal conditions your room needs to be cycled every minute. That is the guidline i follow, and then i base the cfm fan and filter needs on those calculations. However; i also read that the minimum requirements for healthy growth, if temperature is not an issue, is a cycle every 5 minutes. In which case the air in a 13 x 13 x 8 room with a volume of 1352 cubic feet can be cycled with a 300 cfm fan in less than 5 minutes. :hump:

oh man you guys are getting take.... i cant say i love this but i am giggling. you guys need to think before you hear BUY NOW QUICK before you do buy now quick. anyone who installs hoodfans for kitchens can tell you they use carbon filters too, they are the ones that come with the stoves and hoodfans. only problem is carbon is crap, its ACTIVATED Carbon that makes all the difference in the world. there is even activated coal based cabon filter that will work . make your humidity correct too since they won't work with extremes.

activated carbon is coal or started as charcoal. there are different types like coconut and others but the ones you mention all come from the same source, they are processd different that all.
there are different size ones that are for different size smells, like weather it`s in water or air or the type of chemical it was meant to trap
