Odor tip from a professional

Long story short: My neighbor died in his unit and laid there a month. His body did what they start to do.
The smell got pretty bad obviously.

Here's the related tip:
The biological cleanup guy told me that to keep the odor from coming into my unit, I should tape around the edge of ALL my electrical and telephone jacks that share a wall with him.

He says there's a lot of air sucked in and out of the space between the walls when the wind blows and you open doors and stuff. A lot of that air comes through the gaps around the edge's of the electrical outlets.

So, if you are trying to keep the odor contained to an area, you should tape over the outlets in the same way...

Obviously don't go crazy. No need making a fire hazard.
Hope this is useful.

WWWOOOOOOAAAHHHHH shit I gotta bump this thread even though its a month old.

I'm cooked but there was a dead body in the unit next to yours rotting for a month? That is twisted and also rather gross. :spew::spew::spew:

Or you could the foam outlet gaskets that are made t block those breezes. They are only about 4 bucks for maby 16? Then itwould be permanent, no taking it on and off, and it would help with the electric bill too. This coming form a weatherization pro. ;)

Home depot. Great Stuff Expanding foam filler. Thats all you need. You need to do that anyway. Caulk all your windows. If you REALLY wanna get anal, caulk the seams in the room and fill all nail holes, plant hanger holes, etc in the drywall along with sealing the outlets and light switches, and you'll have one air tight room.

get the gaskets.

great stuff is great but messy and stickier then poo-poo! (didn't wanna say shit :bigjoint:) It never comes off. And if you use to much the expansion can even break windows or jam up the movement. I love the stuff, but try not to use it.
