Off to the races! First day of flower/flip.

So a couple tid bits. Your plants look very happy and healthy great job for a second grow!

What breeder are those Cindy 99s from, they look pretty different from most I've grown or seen pictures of. Most Cindy plants have fairly slender leaves, really all three of your plants look pretty identical. It should be interesting to see how they change as they flower.

I also want to point out something that many new growers don't understand. Flowering time is extremely subjective and any numbers in days of weeks given by a breeder is a VERY LOOSE estimate, and not written in stone. Real breeders have real well controlled grows which produce nearly perfect plants. Your grow will be different then theirs. You also don't know what phenotypes you are getting if your running seeds which can add another variable. Different phenotypes of the same strains can take weeks different amounts of time.

So right off the bat counting flowering time is sort of irrelevant. HOWEVER if you are going to count flower time, it starts when the plants begin to show flowers. Most breeders understand this so the times they do use refer to true flowering time NOT 12/12 time unless otherwise specified.

I explain this to newer growers so they can understand the plants they are growing better. When you switch the lights to 12/12 the plants have to go through a transition period. That typically takes 7-14 days for genetically mature plants, but heavily depends on strains and the genetics maturity. You can run a seedling in 12/12 lighting from germination, but it WON'T start to flower for usually 4-8 weeks because it needs to mature before its capable. You switching the lights doesn't instantly make flowers form, it takes time for the plants to build up hormones and transition its growth to reproduction.

Counting from 12/12 flip is totally arbitrary since different strains/phenotypes take different amounts of time to begin flowering. However counting from when you see flowers, just like when growing outdoors or any other plant, provides an accurate gauge of what week of growth the plant is in.

If you grow a cannabis plant outside where you don't flip the lights, you wouldn't say its flowering until you see signs that it is making flowers. You wouldn't say a tomato plant is flowering if it didn't have any buds on it?

I get what your saying and I will be going off trichomes not time but for my personal notes the time from sprout from flip is better in my eyes compared to this long in seedling (which is arbitrary) this long in veg ect... I want all the puzzle pieces to show vigor and whatever else I'm not thinking of atm lol "I flipped here showed hairs here harvested here" but I'm not taking clones so I could end up with something completely different who knows..... the 2 c99's started with skinny(er) leaves but yes look very similar now.

Breeders? Idk first purchase growers choice. Saving the Durban poison till I see a run or two

Right on man, it's just something to remember. Understanding the stages properly instead of lumping everything together helps you understand your plants better. I haven't checked trichomes in years because I've learned to look at the whole of the plant to tell when it's ripe for harvest. I'm not saying you shouldn't look at them, I'm just saying understanding as much about the whole growth process will improve your ability as a grower.

For me to truly understand I think I'll need to take as close a look possible, literally in this case, but I'm a quick learner so I think I'll pick up on the "feel" rather quickly. Plus this shit just interests me I love coming home from work and chilling with my girls checking out them tops lol

I'm not meaning to be a dick but I'm very blunt. I've seen your threads and your plants are looking good im no hater there.... but how can you say you can handle trying diff nutes (cost wise) but go ghetto in every other aspect like environment/ lighting... I do suppose it's all learning from environment to nutes, lighting and hell what that specific pheno want.... I'm not hating again we just have different ways of thinking and grow styles

3 main reasons. 1. i might have to quit in 7-8 months for about 2 years but im guessing 5 years so im waiting to see. 2. nutrients really isn't a huge investment in the end compared to equipment. it's not like your paying electric bills on your nutrients if you know what i mean. 3. i look at it as if i can't grow anything worth a damn in a ghetto setup then how can i grow something amazing in a more expensive setup? basically gotta learn how to walk before you run type of stuff.

i don't live in a legal state that is why #1 is the biggest issue our license expires then and wont be renewed not that i know of. state is debating on recreational use and earliest they said would be 2021 but i don't trust shit the state says about recreational use.

i don't take offense lol i mean unless your willing to pay for all the new equipment your talking about? :D im actually proud of myself because if you seen from where i started and what i've grown to where i am now it's a HUGE improvement in quality and size of the buds as well as equipment i am using. at one point i was growing with a fucking desk lamp with an incandescent bulb. my plants aint the biggest, healthiest, etc.. but at the end of the day improvement is what im looking for. as long as i got improvement in a grow then im doing something right.

Dude I'm an asshole that made an asshole mistake. Have you ever seen the office and there is that guy toby. I was half asleep and thought I was talking to my toby on this site. There is one member that just gets on my nerves and you ain't him, He's a different ghetto grower. but I've seen some nice plants from you and results are the bottom line no matter what you're working with! But seriously $500 for the whole lineup I knew shit was expensive but holy hell that's about what I paid for my light.

doesn't bother me i got many reasons why i got my setup the way it is none of it really has to do with money though. yea it is expensive cause i live in Hawaii and i buy it in store to help the local businesses out. could of saved maybe $100 buying it on amazon maybe more even. i live with my family too cause cost of living here even in an apartment is fucking insane and for my wage yea i work as a cook so my wages ain't very high.

just got to constantly be dealing with peoples shit though with my grow like today someone turned off my lights and fan after just 1 hour of it running cause my grandpa was bitching and complaining about it ramping up the electric bill. not sure why it's any of his concern we pay our bills on time and much more so really it's none of his concern to begin with but he's always been nasty to us. pretty sure he hate my family thats why we don't bother with my dads family but we live with them in a big house so we gotta see um almost daily.
