here's the real future skynet, not your horseshit whining about drones, which aren't autonomous...there are real things like this to worry about, things that make the people working in the field very nervous. they're already effecting our society, forcing choices through the algorithms they use to make suggestions, before they've ever had an independent "thought"... but your bullshit virtue signalling and posturing are more important than the actual rise of the machines....
This is silly; exactly what equipment do you think will be turned over to AI control, anyway?!

Then you’re scum too. I fought in Iraq. We were the bad guys.
Indeed. America was there for reasons of imperial expansionism and corporate profits. If they told people that before they signed up, they'd have a lot more trouble getting suckers into uniforms than they already do.

Are you actually arguing American politics with someone named Lenin1917. 1917 was the start of Lenin’s communist rule in Russia. He’s not a veteran, he’s a communist asshole.

What's morality got to do with it? It's what they are suppose to do. They kill people if they don't get their way.
There are rules of war and breaking those rules are war crimes. Soldiers therefore are expected to have a sense of morality. AI? I can see it being very easy to program them to violate the rules of war and then when their masters are confronted, they'll just say something stupid like "oopsie".

Humanity is finding ways to destroy itself faster than it's finding ways to survive. It doesn't take a genius to spot the trend and foresee the outcome.

Well AI will be the end of mankind as masters.

And making moral rules of war is nice on paper, but in the end your job is to intimidate or destroy and kill. Because if you don't they will.

The best way to win a war is to prevent one. One of the best ways to prevent war is to make big, nasty, credible imputed threats about what happens if your interests are attacked.

Of course, that only stops the rational actor.
