Ohio Dumpster anyone?

Anyone out there know about the "Ohio Dumpster" strain? I bought some a year ago at a concert in OH and havent seen or heard of it since. The story I was told was that it was rescued and brought back to health after being found in a dumpster on the Ohio State University campus. It was some great medicine. Any info would be appreciated.

Some years back, I was transferred to Ohio for work for about 18 months. While I was there, I was able to get my hands on a clone of this strain with the condition that I never give it to anyone, ever. The grower I got this from wanted to keep this strain from spreading out of Ohio and was very adamant that it never leaves my grow room, no matter where my job should take me. I have since been transferred to several different states but have stayed true to my word.

This is a very accurate description of the strain from seedfinder (http://en.seedfinder.eu/strain-info/Dumpster/Clone_Only_Strains/ ):

This is a clone-only strain found mainly in central Ohio, though it's been known to travel outside of Columbus. Known for it's compact, dense, resin-soaked buds, dumpster is light green in color and smells of sweet berries, skunk and earth. The smell carries over into the flavor with hints of berry and earthy spiciness. The indica-dominant effect can be described as heavy, relaxing, and intense; great for movie watching or winding down the evening. It's a strain that seems to be spider-mite resistant to a degree, but susceptible to mold due to the high amount of resin (growers - keep those fans running). It's grows very well and compact in dirt and tends to stretch a little in hydro, though the end product seems to be very similar in quality and finish in 60 days. Growers can expect medium-high yields from this strain depending on conditions. The origin of this strain is muddled in urban-legend and lore, but the common thread between all stories describe a plant that was saved from a dumpster. Some say it was a scrapped cultivation project run by a professor from the university, some say it was just a guy trying to avoid arrest. Either way, it was 25+ years ago and the strain is still around and famous in Ohio. The parent plants are believed to be Northern Lights x G13.

interesting story... I don't quite get why people feel like whatever unique cannabis they have happened upon needs to be kept from the masses. Egotistical, elitist, selfish motherfuckers. What is it that they are afraid of? I'm not bashing the people who take a clone on the condition that they can't share it, I'm bashing the hoarding mentality that somebody would make such a proviso.

It's all business

if you imported rare hardwoods from South America, you wouldn't tell your competition it's cheaper to buy from this town and ship from this port......you want that advantage all to yourself

edit- imagin if you were the only person to own the hash plant strain or purple haze.you wouldn't let it go to just anyone

haha NightOwlBono, I respectfully disagree that it is all business. To be sure, business probably factors in quite a bit... however I think it'd be a false economy to bogart the strain to yourself - how many nugs can you grow and sell at a higher price? versus, if you create a superstrain that everybody wants, you could make endless money swelling clones and seeds of it... I digress though, to me it's really not about money. I think ego has a lot to do with it, I'm sure it sucks to create something awesome only to have others claim your work as their own. Take a look at the patent office - the inventor isn't always the one who gets the credit - it's the first patent holder... So I get that part of it. I don't think the comparison to rare hardwoods available on one continent is applicable though - weed can be grown anywhere indoors any time of the year. If I do stumbe across a gem one of these days, I will be happy to share it with the world. I'm not impressed when somebody makes a killer strain then holds on to it, I'm impressed when they make the strain available to everybody.

hoonry I agree the people should have access to the plant, but the reason strains don't get passed around IS business. Look at girl scout cookies, was once super elite now it and a bunch of false GSC cuts are being recirculated across Cali and beyond! Not such a biggie now but 10yrs ago only certain inner circles even KNEW about GSC yet alone had access to procure it. It was deemed the $100k cut, like so many before it.

At the large scale commercial level I have been responsible for collecting genetics from multiple grows/growers. Many of them brought genetics from home or from their personal circles with the request to not share the genetics. The commercial cannabis world is a back stabbing bitch and sadly most of the "elite" genetics were indeed mass produced and passed around. Most of the large grows were reliant on me for supplying their clones as they were unable to clone with much success.

I was not ok with this and when I left (got fired for refusing to spray E-20 at wk 7 bloom, not joking) I destroyed the mother room by cutting all mothers down and relabeling 400+cuts of B- grade Bubblegum, C99 and master kush as the 100 different mother plants. Pretty sure dude who took over my job got fired too cause I fucked em all over so hard.
Was told every time a 50 light room is under yielding the boss loses $50,000 on nutrients and electrical and wages. So I think I stalled out 250+ lights...

Don't fuck with the people who cut your clones!

We are the creators and destroyers do not push us... how's that for a big fuck you?
Also a buddy of mine who was upset about me getting canned for BS spiked the boss's niece's cloning nutrients with powdered miracle grow causing her to lose 4-6 120 site ezcloners double collared totaling over 1000 cuts.

This industry is not all love that is for fucking sure.

No one mess with this guy.......I can't imagine the trouble they went through over the next couple months

Oh I wasn't acting alone that's for sure. That is what you get when you fire all the knowledgeable growers at 4 facilities at the same time thinking you'll get away with turn key operation paying the "growers helper" $12-$14/hr to push 50-100lights each when we were making $25-$35/hr managing 3-4 people per facility. This is the monster colorado MMED has created.

But also I want to say to Homebrew what a beautiful shot that is. What nutrients did you run on that dumpster cut?

EDIT: Ha ok this is an old thread so disregard said inquiries

Can I ask you why you think people *should* be sharing their own unique cannabis strains with the masses instead of keeping them to themselves?

I was using the GH 3-part at the time but it's not the nutrients, it's the strain.

homebrew love those dumpstah pics -dripping-
i like the way doubled's does it ( or said he did) he is a holder of the mega yeilding 13 week g-13. he sets up rooms for peeps and would put his genetics in there unlabeled i think . so noone gets any ideas. and the way he explains it he will run the grow but split? the harvest that way they can have access to his elites and he don't gotta break his promise to neville not to give it out.

no reason to share with a grower that has bad morals . the cuts taken and stressed mutate more than i ever would have thought 5 years ago . the study of epigenetic adaptations is amazing!
