Yup - CMH, I'm lovin mine.:weed:
My unbranded ballast are fine & when it comes time to replace the bulbs (as it stands) I'll be getting Phillips.

It won't be time to change them for a very long time. I believe it's 20,000 30,000 hours. The fixtures life span is 50,000.Time to replace them is now. Especially with the unbranded ballast. You don't have to spend a $100 on Hortilux or Phillips. But the stock ones that came with it are junk. There are a couple less expensive bulbs out there that are way better then stock ones. Plantmax are the ones my local shop is pushing. You want a bulb that is designed for plant growth.

Hey blue, if your in the states, I got a nice dual bulb 315x2 cmh off of Amazon for 220$. I can run one or both bulbs at the same time. Gives great versatility. I'm running both bulbs now on some Grandaddy purples in a 5x5 tent. Heat is very manageable with a decent ducting and 6 inch fan setup. Bulbs here in Alaska still ran 88$ each for the 4200k. And I'm actually told the 4200k are better for denser buds and a little less stretching when flowering also. I'm into my grow about 5 and a half weeks with 4 ft tall beauties, despite some ambient room temps where I have them. But my tent runs between 67-78° and I'm happy as hell with the light. I made some slight modification to it to open up the spread pattern by cutting the seams to widen it into a { shape instead of (
Working well and now I don't have a 4 square foot hot spot under the lamp. Within an hour I was able to lower my light 4 inches!

Oh, and yes, if you go with cmh definitely use square wave ballast instead of digital regular ballast used for other types of bulbs. Ever wonder why pics of alot of plants have waves in the pics? It's from the peaks and valleys of the sine wave being used. Flourescents are the worst. With cmh more light hits the plant due to the wider peak and valley patterns. And much less RF interference. That's how side by side comparisons put a 630w cmh with square wave ballast equal to 1000w hps. Electricity isnt cheap in alot of places.

I got another one around here somewhere from a user on here, demontrich, that compares the 3200k vs. 4200k
Never would've thought I'd be using a 4200k bulb start to finish and doing this well!

The strain around that's called thunderfuck is garbage compared to what went by the same name decades ago.
Glad everyone approves of my purples, but wait until you see what I'm going to do next. Going to grow the Black strain. Seeing some very interesting hybrids coming from mixing it with others. The idea of buds so dark blue that they only look blue when you trim the black leaves away?.....and covered in that gorgeous frost I like so much? I really like doing these non-traditional funky colors. Now if only the thc numbers work out similar to what I'm told....

AND my purples shot up another 3 inches since last pic posted yesterday! All smiles here to go with my plotting and planning.

Ok I have been growing for about a year with leds. Haven’t done too bad. Not real good either. The most I’ve ever got of a single plant is 5 oz so, I’m thinking about going to an hps. What kind of hps does it take for veg and what kind of hps does it take for flower? Do they use lots of electric? And do they get really hot? I have a 3x3 veg tent and a 4x4 flower tent. Would one light do in each tent? Thanks in advance and sorry for all the questions I know noting about hps but am looking to improve my quality and yields
cmh is good but run 630 not 315 hps is still very good and cheaper and will take that big hps dick out and piss all over leds lol but any who u can run metal hallid 150 to veg and flower with a 400hps or go a full veg/flower with hps u will get the same results

Cmh definitely better than led anyday. IR and UV? Potent combo. But still like cmh over HPS. Less bulbs get changed and they last longer.
