nah, I use a vape, and as I have become really interested in cannabis I like the smell...so not really any issue for me...
Except for the fact it is illegal...get rid of the illegality and we are golden in my eyes...but the post asked for 2 things...

I do something functionally similar ... i learned to vape extracts using a pipe and two screens. No burning weed smell, and the hits are quite tasty. cn

When I was younger I got caught in it and once I went to treatment I started seeing it and had to work to change that habit.
I do not know if its the weed or maybe people just predisposed to oneupsmanship. But its there.
