Okra

I've never grown them, but had to pick those motherfuckers when they were done growing. You gotta wear gloves cuz they stick you and make you itch REAL bad. My grandpa grows em.

They like heat and lots of water. They grow fast to, once it sprouts take like 50-65 days till it's ready. Also, the germ process takes forever. Somethan like 15-20 days.

Okay, my MUCH PROMISED PICTURES! I will be honest, I haven't found pictures this good on the internet thus far! If I get enough responses, I will post an in-depth journal including, but not limited to, my curious observations during this very interesting plant's lifecycle! Enjoy!

Okra with me holding flower that fell off, leaving the fruit... Interesting how it protects the fruit until it gets large enough to grow on its own.

Okra flower, lying on wooden railing.

Herbs growing at the base... I love this flower pot. Basil and dill, et al?

Smaller okra plant. Germinated at same time as large one, but kept it in an 8 ounce party cup for the past 2 months.
Neglected!

Another angle and sort of a closeup of the okra vegetables/fruit growing.

Nice man! Oh yea, definitely fry that up, or throw them in a jar and pickle them - good either way!

On the overcast afternoon of July 3rd, it came time to harvest my first two okras, even though I kinda wish I woulda kept them on the plant longer. Enjoy!

wow not bad at all
why don't u want them to get too big?

they get harder are and not as good, more slimy snot in em i think, generally you want to be able to close your hand around it and have it be no wider than your hand. when you harvest it you just go down the row grab em snap em off and put it in a pouch belt, im so glade im done for the year though, now i gotta deal with these damn turnips.
