Oldest seed you have ever germinated.

I germinated seeds that were 4 years old - but guess I could have kept them a lot more carefully - the following year the same batch had problems, they did actually germinate, split open and produced a tap root, but simply refused to grow any more.

I read that archaeologists found some 4000 year old seeds in a pyramid that germed OK. But I don´t think they were weed.

Imagine how much that strain would be worth if it was some old Egyptian chronic lol.

So I just got done trimming one of her 3 main branches, Ill prob do the other 2 in the morning. My fingers hurt so bad, just trimmed my big sweet island skunk and I already have a red indentation on my thumb from the scissors, ouch . Anywhoo here is a quick vid of One of the Three main branches on the 1 foot tall lost strain I flowered. Ill take another vid in the morning with better light and not on my camera phone so you can see the bud in detail in all its sugary glory. When I started trimming I though I was going to be disappointed with yield, but once i cut a few leafs back I realized there were nice sized buds under there, not too bad for such a short plant. Sticky of course, the smell is like just pure PINE with a hint of lemon, lol sounds like a pine sole commercial. One of the most earthy/piney smells I have smelled on herb. She will probably get a tighter trim in morning too my hand just hurt too badly right now ....I now have a strong dislike for trimming sativas.

So people let me get this right put my seeds in a container and stick them in the fridge and i can leave them in there as long as i want without damaging them or not making them germ..

ours weren't in the fridge, they were in a glass jar in the basement with a silica package in the jar, Im sure the silica had something to do with it and MOST were cracked or discolored or all white or all black or soft or rock hard and shrunk, out of hundereds only about 30 looked viable so i planted em. Out of em all only 1 sprouted so I would contribute lots of it to luck on that single seeds part.

i would say that maybe them being in the jar with the silica hurt more then anything else
prolly why a lot of them were suck dry- i have no proof of this, its just what i think
i would just store them in a dry jar buy them self and keep them in a dark place
remember bag seeds are more then likely kept in compressed bricks for months if not over a year
before they even reach you , iv germed them months later
i would be cautious about putting them in the fridge that just me a nice shoe box has always worked for me
i use an old pill bottle

So here are a few pics of the seeds that we collected over the years when overseas. As you can see most are all dried up and dead or black and swollen ..... But, there are a few gems in there worth trying, Batch #1 1/~50 Batch #2 0/~40 =( Batch #3 ?/25 and ?/20 fingers crossed. Going to try to get a germinator from the last of the semi viable looking seeds. Doing 2 seperate cups at 2 diff temps for a better chance.

Nice. Just from looking at the pics there looks like there are quite a few that have the potential to germinate.

Yeah im very new to growing from seed but a few had no micro stress lines and no cracks so i figures if one could germinate maybe a few more could =D Thanks for the positive thoughts, the girls will sense it and sprout =P

I took your advice and put them into a lil piss test jar with a tight screw top and put in my closet. I threw away the silica pack it was all powdery inside the lil gel balls had completely broken down lol. It had the warning "dont eat" on it so im assuming it came from something like beef jerky lol=D

So batch #3 total fail... 0/20 and 0/25. Batch #4 i just took a handful, soaked for 24 hours and put half in rapid rooters and the other half in a large container with soil. None of the rapid rooter ones sprouted, I didnt think any of the soil ones sprouted either so I just left it in a closet for the last week and forgot about it. THANK GOD I decided to clean out the closet and noticed the lil container had something poking up. SUCCESS!!!! 1/60~ germinated on the 4th batch. CANT WAIT to see what she is going to look like and what species it is.

And here is a pic of the most recent successful propagation of old seeds, the Mystery strain i have named "6k" in flower.

Let's hope it's another lady! If it's a dude you just gonna chop it or use it to knock up one of the clones from the first batch?

Totally hoping for a male =D I am dying to do a lil cross breeding of my own with that 6k and would love to do it with another lost strain. Fingers crossed.
