3 days? Nice! :leaf:
Today it's got a 2.5-4" stem. I did not expect this! It's leaning towards the sun, the roots are visible on the cup bottom. What do you recommend I do? Should I transplant it and put it outside? Should l leave it alone? The stem is growing so fast. The first serrated leaves popped out overnight too! Sorry, it's a big deal to me, all these plants doing well! I'm assuming my outdoor plants are doing well. I sprayed the dirt around them with foxfarm extra dilute all stage food. I think they are focusing on rooting. But this window plant....I've no idea of sex or strain, I was just seeing what I like as substrate and which germination produced healthy, viable females. I was going to buy lighting next week, but it is really tall and bending towards sun already. It is in a window where I keep happy house plants. Every seed needs a chance...I'm going to be living in a frikkin greenhouse! (No complaint)

It is getting leggy because it needs more light...if it keeps it up, it will topple over and you'll need to repot it a little deeper to bury the stem for support. You'll need to be careful if you get to that point as you probably don't want to be transplanting something that small. Also, you can build a little brace out of a twistytie to make it stand up if it falls over before you can transplant. Get it under a light asap.

If you like looking at the roots, that is fine, but they do not like light so you might wanna drop that clear cup into a solid cup that blocks the light.

For starters, next time don't use transparent cups. If the sunlight/artificial light hits the roots, it damages them.
Speaking of roots, would you mind posting a picture? You said they are already poking out?
Usually when that happens it would be time to transplant but if the seedling is too young and fragile I would wait a bit before.
Sex you will see later. Too soon now.
Also you should get the light. Window sill will only get you this far... Stretching seedling means it needs more light.

Since I haven't gotten my indoor setup ( I'm getting a small, maybe 3 plant max to begin, or do you recommend going bigger? I got 500$ set aside to spend on a setup next paycheck. I can do something decent with that. I'll snap a pic of the roots. Here's one of my outdoor plants in a 5 gal planter, day 10 outdoors from germinated seeds.pretty girl, huh?

So I can't see the root today, but it's grown. I put a little soil around the stem to straighten it. Pic to follow. Finger for sizing.

Yes it's stretching because it's not getting enough light.

Also don't keep watering your medium. Keeping it soaked is asking for issues or plant death. Give it a little water and wait for it to dry out before you give it more.

Light insulated containers are always the better choice. I've however used clear cups years on end without any issues.

You think it should affect roots more negatively than it actually does. Main positive with clear cups is it's easier to see when plants are root bound and need a transplant. Cheers!

So should I transplant to final container and put her outside w my other 3?

The best is to start small and transplant a couple of times throughout the grow. Think in terms of watering cycles, how you can speed up that cycle by having a volume of the medium that fits with the size of the root mass.

What's the optimal amount of water? Not to wet and not to dry? I go by weight, I use about 20-30% perlite to make the aeration a little better. Water along the pot edge so the sprout seek out water, it's also a good practice to mitigate wilt/damp off disease.

Peat has a tendency to shrink up when it dries, perlite helps to combat this to a certain degree. You have a perfect example with the crackled surface of your pot.

My crackled plant? Could you tell me where and shoot me a pic of your seedings at day 12, maybe. I'm sponging it, need all info I can process and I'm seriously good at learning. New hobby to study, here.

Yes, I know. I need a lot of advice on indoor equipment I want to purchase next week. Is there a beginner forum for that?
Newbie Central is the section for new growers. Their is also a section for lighting if you are looking for recommendations.

Your $500 budget for an indoor setup is doable for a decent space. I think @Doug Dawson had recommended a Mars Hydro kit as a decent start if you are looking for that all in one purchase. I started with a kit and replaced everything but the tent by my second grow. Granted it was of lesser quality than the Mars Hydro kit.

Grow Room Design & Setup might have more information if you are looking to buy everything separate.

Yes indeed, a Mars kit is definitely within your $500 budget and will get you from seed to harvest. Just understand what you are getting. The tents are decent quality, the lights work fine as does the carbon filter and exaust fan. The kit I got has dimmable light and adjustable fan. Now the exaust is not the quietest and there are better lights but the fact is that it will get it done. Makes a good staring point if you want to start out and see if it's your thing. If you are planning to do this for a while you will likely start upgrading things so that's something to consider. $500 wont get you a top of the line setup but will get you from a pack of seeds to decent bud if you grow it properly. I have a Mars grow kit test thread in grow journal section if you want to check it out.
