On a Gel?

I read the mdms for ONa gel and it said something about carbon monoxide. That doesn't sound good. I was planning on using it to get the smell down as i am in an apt and there are other people around although no people on the otherside of the closet but it may be a service room.

Basically is ONa safe for my plant and/or me? And should I put it in my closet where the plants are or in my room on the otherside of door of the closet where they are where i sleep at night. Is Ozium safe for me and my plant while I'm at it?

Will the combination 1L of ONa gel, Ozium spray, and febreeze air fresheneres auto timed in the room connected to my bedroom which encompasse my closet, get rid of the odors of 4 small plants in my closet?

Any advice would help, rep for responses.

if you have access to Walmart [who doesnt] there is a product called "febreze true air" essentially a compact carbon filter fan combo that plugs into any outlet. I have a 4' x 6' closet with : 1 ak-48, 1 whiteberry, & 1 violator kush and with 2 of these febreze carbon filters [approx. $15 ea] & 1 ONA Gel & it is as fresh as could be in there.

yes it is totally safe for you to use. i use a few of them...just go and get some dryer sheets and place them on the back of your fan. this works just as well if not better and you get the fresh laundered smell

Why the hell would you get ONA when you can get either a CARBON FILTER (either DIY or BOUGHT)???

ONA works. I don't know the health issues but it does smell and I'd rather not breathe that shit in on a continual basis (chemicals in general).

I have ONA but only use it in extreme situations (smell gets too powerful or BLACK OUTS). Stick with Carbon Filters or even Ozone (although since you're sleeping there i wouldn't use that).

Ona is safe. I had some in my growspace for months with no negative effects. And it certainly works, but it's very pungunt and will overpower your apartment. It's not that it's an unpleasant smell, but it can get strong. Since then, I have employed a canfan carbon filter and only need to use Ona in conjuction at the height of flowering if the strain is stinky enough.

Another note, when I bought the Ona from my local Hydro store the woman told me that authorities can be hip to Ona's unique odour and set off alarm bells. I don't know if she was shitting me, but be aware. Like PF mentioned, CFs are the way to go. It's better to have zero smell than an overpoweringly noticeable cover up odour.

that's interesting. i have always shied away from plug in air freshners in the grow area because it seems like the plants would be breathing in all that crap. the filter only filters the air that enters the thing, not exits. heavy purfume just sounds like a bad idea. on the other hand my cat box is fairly close to my grow area and my plants are probably breathing that in so who knows.

It is not an air freshener. It actually is a mini carbon filter that plugs into a standard wall outlet [fan included]. Febreze True Air look it up!

ok but i have to get one of those. you say it works? even if i had to use 2 of them that's a really nice little contraption if it works. i checked some consumer reports and it's actually gotten some rave reviews. only cons are that it has a 6 foot radius of effectiveness. lucky for me my closet is only 5 feet wide. this may be just the thing. +rep for that.

Digging up an old thread I know, but just to add some mis-stated information on Ona.

Having read the MSDS, it is only reactive with strong acids, bases, oxidizers. Examples such as 'Muriatic Acid' (Hydrochloric acid) which is a pool supply, or Lye (Sodium Hydroxide).

If you have compounds like these around your growbox and room, you have much more serious problems then if Ona is poisonous lol.

You also mentioned concern for carbon monoxide. This relates to reactivity to oxidizers. Pretty much EVERY organic compound when reacted with oxidizing agents will release CO as a byproduct of the breakdown of the carbon bonds. Again, if you have oxidizers near your growbox, you have some other problems :) .

Its chemical class describes it as containing terpenoids. These are very plentiful in plants, and in the weed you smoke, heh. The word basically refers to a component (isopentenyl pyrophosphate) which can be ... 'assembled' in MANY different ways to make a large large number of organic compounds, which are found in every living thing.

In other words they are one of the small building block that are part of biosynthesis, and in humans they are fundamental in the HMG-CoA reductase pathway, which is how cholesterol is made (which believe me is very important).

Anyways, just saying from the entire MSDS it is clear that Ona gel is very safe, anyone saying otherwise is misinformed. I have never used it myself

PS: I didn't cut and paste from wiki lol, just learned all this shit years ago in university, so I know when i see a toxicological moeity :)
