Hello there.
I just finished my first ever grow and thought I would share my work. I'm mainly doing so because when I researched into what gets you a 1lb plant all I basically got back were comments telling me it wasn't possible for a noob and that I would be lucky to get an ounce off a plant for my first attempt etc etc. I got quite pissed off with these people telling me it wasn't possible for my first time - growing a plant surely cannot be that hard and I had to test it out for myself. In the end I was disappointed with the result, not because I didn't crack 16oz (I got 17 and 1/4) but because I'm sure there was the potential for 2lbs in there. There's always next time! Moral of the story, don't listen to dicks who tell you you can't do something just because they can't!
Before I explain my setup I want to stress that I am not interested in making money or anything, I just want to smoke some good weed. Getting good shit consistently where I am is hard and I'm sick of immature, wet, unflushed crap. Don't even get me started on the shitty outdoor weed we've got - I actually want to get high when I smoke thank you. I am well aware I could get a higher yield and a quicker turnaround if I simply had a SOG going on, but then if I ever got caught by the authorities it would mean jail time, so its just the one plant for me. Maybe four in the future. I tend to smoke around 1gm a day during the week with a bit more on weekends (not including concentrates) so this gets me by nicely.
So yeah, 1lb+ plant, 4 months 1 week in total. I got a flowering half-dead clone so it took a week or two to revive it and get her vegging again. I flipped her too late so some nugs got pretty close to the light but all in all pretty happy. So long as you read up and know what a plant needs to live, mainly the right environment, decent nutrients (and PH!!!!) then you should be able to get similar results. Do not forget about PH it is vital. Between 5.8 - 6.5. I didn't get a decent PH meter until near the end - another area I could improve in. I also had to deal with all the problems caused by having soil plants in the same environment (bugs) for a little while but couldn't really do anything about that. Next mission is to get 1lb in under 3 months, I know it's possible just need to be onto it!
SETUP
1.2 x 1.2 x 2m tent (4'x4')
1x 600w HPS SonT Plus lamp with electronic timer
Plain metal shade later replaced by large Adjusta wings Avenger with super spreader
Lumatek MH and HPS electronic ballast
Self supporting recycling hydro system with horseshoe ring feed
Two 15cm air stones
Small aquarium Pump and 15min timer
150mmx500mm Carbon filter
Centrifugal PK exhaust fan and ducting
Desk fan
Max/Min thermo-hygro meter (temperature and humidity)
Bluelab EC salts meter
Bluelab PH pen
SCREEN
4 pieces of 1.1x.1m cheap timber screwed together
String
Rope to hold it up
NUTES
Veg EC = 1.8
Flower EC = 2.5
Flush EC = 0
Growzilla A&B - veg
Budzilla A&B - flower
Superthrive - veg/clone
Canadian Express Superior Potash - flower
House and Garden Shooting Powder - flower
Final Rinse - final week of flower
Oh and a wee bit of hydroxide for oxygenation and sterilisation and some citric acid for lowering the PH.
ENVIRO
Constant small fan on the tops to displace C02 and give airflow
Centrifugal fan replacing all the air every 5 minutes I think
Lights on temps between 24-26degrees Celsius - I struggled with low temps at night of around 10 degrees C which is pretty bad. I eventually invested in a heater which sorted it out. Some parts got pretty hot as they were too close to the light.
Feeding regime was 15minutes on every 2hours during the day, and on once at night for veg, twice for flower.
Water temperature 19-23 degrees Celsius.
Didn't use any additional CO2.View attachment 2898400View attachment 2898406View attachment 2898404View attachment 2898403View attachment 2898401View attachment 2898386View attachment 2898385View attachment 2898384View attachment 2898383View attachment 2898380View attachment 2898387View attachment 2898407
