One top is growing faster than the other

Hi, so i've made a mistake and set up 2 bulbs, with one being strong than the other, and after 4 days of my plant recovering from it's topping, one of the 2 new colas (the one directly under the stronger light) is slighlty more developed with bigger leaves and a thicker stem.

Will this cause problems down the road? the plant is only 30-35 days old
I'm scared that this might cause the plant to make only one of the colas dominant, instead of both colas being dominant.


The difference is not THAT big, but i'd say it looks like one cola is like 1 or 2 days older than the smaller cola

Sorry Niv but that is exactly what will happen. The dominant or apical growing shoot sends out hormones suppressing the others.

The obvious solution is to rotate the plant so the smaller one gets the best light. Then...once balanced...rotate them now and then to keep them balanced.

If that's not possible...then you will need to do some lst bending the tall one over or supercropping.

I forgot to mention that I have now switched to a single cxb3950 which gives both same light.

Should I put the previois combo of 2 light back for a couple days and give the smaller cola the stronger light so it can catch and then switch back to a single cxb3950?

Can the big number of changes to the light source stunt my plant? Or is there a safe way to do that?

No matter what you do , its not going to "hurt" your cola.....make sure the whole plant is getting plenty of light and it will be fine. thats just the way plants grow , it is not a problem at all.

This is true except he wants to equalize his two colas.

@nivI41 I wouldn't bother putting the old lights back in. Deal with it through training. Try gently bending the tall one over and tie it down. Or bend it as in supercropping. If you've never done any training and want to try the light thing...your call.

I crush the stem just below they very top. I dont kill it and it dont take but a few days to fix itself. thats my training. like jd said you can bend it over an tie it. Dont even mess with the lights .....thats taking away from the slightly taller one. also like jd said , keep your new lights.

This is my first grow, so I think ill feel more comfortable doing LST. Hopefully this will turn out ok, thanks for helping!
