opinion on lighting led or t5

My goal is to get 1.5 to 2 oz per plant
i want to grow different strains say 4-6 at once
in a way that would be like a perpetual harvest

i would want
a bonsai mother room
clone room
veg room
flower room
a drying room

this would be my dedicated area for different strains

then i would have a 3x3 area for the strains i fall in love with

a note i want a compact of a footprint as posible

lighting
i keep going back to t5 lights
i like the fact you can keep them close
low heat
example if i have a 6 foot ceiling height
i would rather divide it into 2 3 foot sections and grow 2 strains
i will do this through scrog or manifold type of growing

from what i have seen on youtube and forums is you cannot get very close to the plant with led

from what i have read you might experience slower growth and yeild with t5

what lights would you usw

thanks in advance

I'd go with LED, you can dim them down. If you diy, you can build lights out of strips. Run more strips at lower power, and get them close that way.

I would never wanna use T5 for flower, no penetration. Quality LED is the way to go, white LED. 35 watts per sqft (real watts not some advertisement bull). With LED you need warmer temps to makeup for the lack of IR.

Thank you for the quick responses

from what i gathered from reading i was leading towards led diy

not much up to date info on t5 that i can find but may have missed

i guess it is off to more studying about led diy

i have a large tent with a 600 hps

i will be learning how to maniflold and scrog
untill i design and build my strain room

i havent grown in 9 years kids are grown up ant time to get back to it

i use to grow way better than anything you can buy lol

T5s are excellent lights for seedlings/clones onto small plants but that's their limit, led without a doubt.

What I have been using for the last 6 months is T5 from seed to first 3 weeks then transfer to Led for veg and flower.

t5s are great for germinating seeds, up to about 2 weeks, and also for rooting clones. I keep it on 24 hours per day for those, then swap it out for an led panel from 2 weeks on (and switch to 18/6). Bonsai mom would do fine under t5s too, while keeping it in "stasis." But when you anticipate the need for clones, I'd move the mommies under an LED....or CMH. I love CMH lighting, it's a joy to work under in the winter.

for veg you want ~25w per square foot of t5 and you want them to cover as much of the canopy as possible as t5s only give off high par within a few inches. So if you're in a 2x2 thats probably a 2 foot 4 bulb fixture.

something like this

that price seems like a rip off though btw

Before I got my T5 unit I used a 150w cfl with good results, but neither come close to the output of good LED, even at 50% power I bleached the plants with light intensity.
The downside for me is that it's to cold where I am in the world or I'd be running led for veg instead of mh/T5s/cfl
