opinions on topping?

Its too late for me now anyway as Im already into the 3rd week of flowering, but I was wondering, for next time, what people think of topping.

Can this produce two good large buds, or does it just use up energy that could go into developing buds that are there without topping???

I have a feeling this is going to be quite evenly opinionated!!!!!

I assume when you top it makes two smaller colas, distributing the bud that would be on a single cola evenly between the two. I couldn't tell you if it yields more or less, but it helps with space issues.

It's strain-specific. There are some strains that will not reach their maximum potential yield *unless* you top (or prune) them. And then there are strains that will just divide the buddage they would have produced in one bud into two or more buds. However, I don't believe you will ever get less yield from topping (except that it does slow down veg growth some), so assuming I have some time to top and recover, I always top the plants.

You say its strain specific, Im flowering white widow at present, and the next batch I will be flowering is blueberry (which I've never smoked, wonder how it is.....) do you know if they are strains that topping might help??

No idea here, sorry. Never tried those. But when in doubt (and provided you can handle the growth slowdown), top 'em! If you're in a hurry to veg them up and get them flowering though, and you're out of stash, then I'd probably skip topping this cycle so you can at least get yourself supplied as quickly as possible.

topped female plants that were weak in early days 12/12. i left the strong female to the cola 5 weeks in dont think it makes a diffrence. they all got roated under the light, & the 4 colas on the 2 ladies are 1/4 of the 1 cola

i just topped my 16 days old plant cuz my stupid light fell on it and burn the 4th node set of leaves now im worried. :sad:
