I've been married to my wife for 30 years, still the love of my life, and my best friend. Her sense of humor is one of the things I married her for.

These are the few ways we can practice humility:

To speak as little as possible of one's self.

To mind one's own business.

Not to want to manage other people's affairs.

To avoid curiosity.

To accept contradictions and correction cheerfully.

To pass over the mistakes of others.

To accept insults and injuries.

To accept being slighted, forgotten and disliked.

To be kind and gentle even under provocation.

Never to stand on one's dignity.

To choose always the hardest.

“Respectful communication under conflict or opposition is an essential and truly awe-inspiring ability.”

Ha. Imagine a world
I do. And I try to live it.

We should all not only aspire to live it ourselves but hold our peers, our country and our planet to the same standard.

Easier said than done, I know.

The Anatomy of Conflict:

If there is no communication then there is no respect.

If there is no respect then there is no caring.

If there is no caring then there is no understanding.

If there is no understanding then there is no compassion.

If there is no compassion then there is no empathy.

If there is no empathy then there is no forgiveness.

If there is no forgiveness then there is no kindness.

If there is no kindness then there is no honesty.

If there is no honesty then there is no love. If there is no love then [...] there is no peace.

If there is no peace then there is no happiness.

If there is no happiness ----then there IS CONFLICT BECAUSE THERE IS NO COMMUNICATION!

"Then in the Arctic half-light of the canyon, all existence fades to a being with my soul and memories and the sounds of the Big Blackfoot River and a four-count rhythm and the hope that a fish will rise. Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it."
-Norman Maclean
