Optional conformal coating, should I add it?

Just bought a BudgetLED Series 3+ full spec and ordered it with the optional conformal coating.

I can still cancel the coating process.

The manufacturer says this:

"The coating impacts about 5% and increases the level of the blue spectrum. The rest of the spectrum stays relatively stable. We use a high grade product."

Given the option, and knowing the impact, do the benefits (I don't know what they are if any) outweigh the negative impact and cost ($30 extra, lowered output, etc)? Should I add it?

@BobThe420Builder you helped me out introduce ng me to their products, do you have an opinion on this at all?

Thanks!

I'm asking the manufacturer what is more common in their sales, coated or not coated. Waiting for reply which should come quick.

I hate having to make decisions about things when I dont understand the impact and have no basis for comparison.

Anyone know if other quality led lights are coated generally speaking? If they are, I'll just do the "normal" thing and get it coated as planned.

Thanks.

Conformal coating has it's pros and cons like everything else. Depends on your environmental needs (wet location rated), foliar applications, misting, etc.

The output loss can vary depending on thickness/ consistency. Personally as a hobbyist I wouldn't bother, couple hundred led fixtures in a large op with fire suppression? yes

Thanks! I was mostly trying to understand the benefits since I don't foliar feed, mist, have humidity issues, or burn sulphur, etc.

Sounds like I am a good case for NOT needing the conformal coating, so I cancelled the add-on. I doubt I would have noticed the 5% loss, but knowing I was giving up 5% when I didn't need to felt silly, plus I saved roughly $30.

I imagine if I ever do need to do any of those things, I can just flip the light off and cover it for a bit to keep it safe, or take it right out of the room if needed.
