Oregon Man Sentenced to 30 Days in Jail -- for Collecting Rainwater on His Property
(CNSNews.com) A rural Oregon man was sentenced Wednesday to 30 days in jail and over $1,500 in fines because he had three reservoirs on his property to collect and use rainwater.
Gary Harrington of Eagle Point, Ore., says he plans to appeal his conviction in Jackson County (Ore.) Circuit Court on nine misdemeanor charges under a 1925 law for having what state water managers called three illegal reservoirs on his property and for filling the reservoirs with rainwater and snow runoff.

there have been a few times i've made that mistake.

coming back from road trips, i often start pumping. if the guy is taking too long with other cars, i've finished the job.

frankly, i prefer having someone to pump the gas most of the time. i get pissed off if i have to go inside to hand them my cash and i avoid those places.

now i'm going to read this nonsense article. smart money is that it is akin to the lady who got fined (not jailed) for having an ugly garden on her front lawn against the simple code rules of the city she chose to move to.

i mean, i'd love to just spray paint my front lawn neon red, and maybe i could. but many neighborhoods frown upon that kind of thing due to property values and it is not allowed.

summary for those of us that are not c/p tards:

oregon law says all water is publicly owned. that may not be the case in other states, move there if you have a problem with this commonsense law.

if you want to divert or store the water, you need a permit. this man had one, but it was withdrawn. why?

the guy builds dams on his property to collect runoff that comes down from other places, and claims that it is all his water, even though it came from elsewhere. the water runoff that he collects with dams on his property is runoff from other places, and he is blocking it from where it would normally go, which is to the larger water source that supplies larger populations downstream who rely on it.

water is publicly owned here. if anyone was allowed to build dams and divert/store unlimited water on their property without a permit, then corporations could easily come in and monopolize the water supply by buying up property like this guy's property en masse.

as i confirmed earlier, this just proves that all you have is strawmen. he was building a dam without a permit. i can't even put on addition without a pwermit, much less take everyone else's water without one.

Nope it actually really good for the locals since they get hired (and tipped) to do so. We went thru OR to WA and met the coolest guy up there he saw we were from CA and came out to explain they do the pumping here and why.. (we were already told about it but the guy had his full story down and with a political end!)

We do not have full service here that I have found. I miss it.

Just pump gas. They barely know how to handle the hose and once a month have refesher courses which go over different car models' gas cap locations and types.

Thats disappointing. Refresher courses to pump gas. I have to take refresher courses every year for my job, but at least mine are really needed.
