Looking for a organic DIY pest control for my outside grow. Trying to ward off mites and aphids, as well as bigger pests like fleas and flys. Heard about neem oil mixed with water or mixed with water and dish soap. Any suggestions?

Neem Oil can be sprayed every three days up until 4 weeks into flowering. Diatomaceous earth is also a great organic tool to prevent gnats and flies. It can even be dusted on plants to kill mites.

so nobody has any experience with a diluted soap mixture? it seems logical that soap would effectively plug an insects spiracles. at least in veg, as long as it is rinsed off - it seems safe. thoughts?

so you just spread the diatomaceous earth on the top layer of the soil?

Ive heard ppl say this and it says it on the container of neem oil that you mix 1/3 tsp of liquid dish soap with 1 1/2 tsp of the neem oil and a quart of H20. Anyone have any experience with this? The soap is safe for the plants? I copped an 8 oz bottle of this neem, ill try it out for a few weeks and let you know how it goes.... would like to know if it was 100% safe for the plants though.

if you get a pack of american spirits cigarettes and soak a pack's worth of tobacco with a spray bottle's worth of water, you can kill damn near any bug and it's harmless to the plant.
And i wouldn't spray any water based spray on a flowering plant, unless you like mold...

the dish soap acts as a surfactant, it's harmless (@that dosage), there is an organic equivalent, it's a plant based oil, i actually have one, but it's the dark cycle in there right now and i can't go get it, but i remember it being pretty cheap and a little goes a very, very, very, long way, i've had the bottle for years and i haven't even used a quarter of it (pint sized).
I want to say it's a tropical oil, damnit i can't remember.
It's a transparent oil.
Neem oil doesn't seem to do squat to mites, in my experience anyway.
Not a whole lot that does affect mites, organically anyways.
miticide during vege, turn the plants upside down and dip them in a 5 gallon bucket of the solution, just not flowering plants.
works waaaayyy better than spraying.

i wish you the best of luck on those, but they can be hard to keep in there and they don't kill all the bugs, also they won't stay if the temps are to their liking.
i know, i know, i'm a negative nancy....
seriously though, they work great outside, if your plant is infested, but ladybugs don't like company, the mantis' work better i guess, expensive and disappointing for me anyways , i've only tried three times so it could just be me.
good luck

no camera right now, but the name of it is CoCo-wet and it's made from palm kernal oil, a little goes a long way.
cheap too, and if you have soil tension issues you can water your plant with it too.
