Organic Perpetual SOG

i know can you believe it! you should of seen me last nigh when i noticed that, i almost imbarrased myself, haha.

ok guys, i'm not sure who is following this thread still (hopefully everyone!) but after my conversation with upinchronic1 about the "mini forest" technique I got to thinking... now I know SOG and SCROG are already ultra efficient, but what about for cats that have limited headroom, would one bushy plant yield more than many really small ones...? my hypothesis is no, I believe if we can maximize the space available more plants will yield more still, even for the closet or box grower! now when I say mini forest, I mean start flowering right out of the EZ cloner, max plant heighth of 9-10" maybe? just ONE PHAT COLA!!!!!!! let me know if this perks anyones interest, and maybe i'll setup an experiment...

i gotta say, thats a sick setup. im tryin to do somethin similar, as soon as my giants finish (day 23) ill throw in these 20 clones i have. they are each about a foot tall, id be interested in seeing what they yield at this stage. id definately be interested in observing your results if you flower some early clones, im using a 1000watt hps for flowering and a t12 lamp w/ blue spectrum lights for vegging the clones. i cant wait to harvest and throw in the next batch, i was impressed seeing that you harvest over a lb every 2 weeks - thats something i might set a goal for.

well i think that your theory works on paper, or grey matter. its better to let the plant reach as much of its potential as possible- so yeah i think a bushy ass one does much better than tiny ones.

i am always in favor of experimentation.

ok, I see your point, but just to play devils advocate I have a response... isn't a plant final product/potential decided by its genes? meaning if you were to do the best job growing a plant as you possibly could, you couldn't make it more potent, or yield more than is pre-determined by its genetic makeup. I think that is true regardless of the size of the plant, its potential is pre-determined...

i kno that when my SoG gets set up im going to put them straight into bloom after the clones root... keeps the plants small and manegable and u get that big fat top cola that i believe has the best smoke since it will be getting all the plants attention being the only flower... and then multiply that by 5 or 6... thats a nice harvest every two weeks.

FYI everyone, my next cycle of clones I will flower at 3-4" to get this experiment going... s/b a couple more weeks, I just threw in a cycle... stay tuned!

from what ive seen and heard the clones thrown into flowering will grow vegetatively anyways for the first week or two b4 flowers start showing so yea.. but yea im gonna get a journal started sometime in the near future.. its gonna be a SoG hydro set up... or i might jus end up doin it in soil all depends.

that 2 weeks you are referring to happens no matter what size/age you start flowering. it takes about 2 weeks for a plant to change over from veg to flower, that is the plants last stretch before vertical growth stops.

do you use straight ro water in your cloner? do you dip the clones in gel?

no, I don't need an ro setup, I have pretty neutral tap water. I use water with a rotting solution and a rooting gel, probably don't need the gel but I use it for good luck (old habits die hard)

Man those are some of the healthiest plants I've ever seen and so many of them! The setup looks very enticing to me; I'm always looking for a better, easier way to do things. I'm glad you're here! Rep from me.

I pride myself on the health and the quality of my babies! it a great setup, with countless possibilities, SoG is an efficient and quicker way to turn yields, and if you perpetualize it, your never waiting for fresh smoke or harvest! i'll take some more pics today, give everyone an update!

did i read correctly that you are pulling 1.5 lbs on 16 plants flipping at 10" on a 50 day cycle with a 400W bulb and at any given time, because of the two week crop indicated, you have 48 plants under this one light?

ganj father i will be asking you many questions along my journey of starting a small forest. i only have about 30" of height but 4-6 feet of width and just over a foot deep so this is my only option to produce a good yield.

questions i have so far. can i do this with soil? no hydro or grow shops around here. so all i really have access to is soil or if i build my own hydro system..

also can i run a hps in only 30" of height? i would prolly have to modify the hood to make it fit in my small area but my question is will i fry my plants?

please let me know.

good catch thanks for calling me out dude! j/k, but for the protection of myself, i'm trying to be as vauge, and deceptive to the actual amount of plants I keep. and I don't think you read that correctly, I use 400w ballasts, plural...

if the space is that small it would probably be more beneficent to cover in mylar and remove the hood from the fixture all together. just be sure to vent it really really well.
perhaps you should consider a method of growing horizontally? ive seen a few people on here do it before. lol

It is good to be vague, i suppose, it just sounds so much like a commercial to me, so i figured i'd ask if you were one of those to good to be true kind of promoters, and although it is possible to have a 10 light room @ 400W ea, but why would you do that when you could easily put 4 1000W and consume the same energy and create more lumens in a lot less space. Preference and availability i suppose.

PS - I'm not trying to pick a fight here, i'm just wondering why i'm not creating publicity for myself as well. My issues here, and by the way i'm pretty sure i'm going with the 14/13 PK Canadian formula instead of the 0-53-33 i had thought of using. You can use me in your stats. Canna has a great reputation, but also the most expensive organic label.

I think I did explain I use the 400w'ers because the height from ground to ceiling is about 5-1/2 ft. unfortunately 1000w would burn up my plants. also, I have access to a practically unlimited amount of 400w ballasts and bulbs. can't pass up free right? as far as your comment about promoting a certain product, well i'll just take that at face value, i'm not here trying to sell anything, believe me I would be trying a lot harder... I AM promoting a product I believe in and have shown the best results... if you look close you will botice 3-4 different brands I "promote". if it works, and works well I will tell the world, its called advertising by quality and word of mouth. so my question is if your not here to pick a fight, what are you contributing to this thread, except trying to catch someone up? all i'm here to do is share my knowledge and experience with others, which is all this thread is meant to do... so while I appreciate the time you took to skim my thread, I don't appreciate you wasting my time by spitting nonsense just creat publicity for yourself... start your own thread and come up with something interesting to say. i'm here to assist the ones that need it, and conversate and have a good time, lets keep it that way!
