I read somewhere that it can help with density of the nugs. not sure how true that is. but... How'd it come out? Didn't dry too fast?

Hey Sxistew,

It added a couple days to the drying process. The nugs were crystallize and didn't have much smell. But after less than a hour in the curing jar, the smell just jumped out the jar when I opened it. So I think it woill just get better and stronger. Didn't notice any increase in denseness.

WELL.. lol maybe i'll try that on a few on mine after they are done.

NICE. Here's my favourite gal... All Electrovoice, Crown VZ 5000 amplification. Not mine (YET) but it's the only rig I work with for any of my events. She has a blast-radius of around 10 metres that no human can stand in, when behind the decks it feels like your chest is getting crushed LOL... Oldschool. BADASS.

I read the thread on drying the whole plant vs. cutting. I think it was intended for drying roses and the OP was making a pretty big leap that his improved buds where from this procedure alone. I think hanging the whole plant adds way too much time to the dry and risks mold issues. I also dislike trimming dry bud.

The advantage I see to drying a whole plant isn't better bud, but rather, an idiot-proof procedure to remove moisture without a whole lot of grower intervention. The plant's root system and stems provides a buffer in the drying process. With smaller cut and hung branches, you get a lot of moisture fluctuation that if left unchecked can ruin the harvest.

I think if you use hydrometers, burping, and pay attention to your process of drying, you can cut several days from the drying process by hanging the smaller branches and also lower the risk of attracting mold.

It's been proven by SimonD that a perfectly harvested bud can only be "F" up by the grower during the all important dry and cure process. If the moisture content of the bud dips below 55% all curing stops (no matter what you do to restore the moisture, the bud will not continue curing). If the moisture in the bud is too high, you get mold and curing slows.

Anyway, that's my two cents.

I'm happy with the turnout. Wasn't aiming for anything special this run. Was just hoping for enough personal to last till next harvest (which will be ridiculously huge). I'll be shooting for a couple pounds. Between the two jobs, and the 3 year old, it's tough to find extra time. So, I'm going automated this upcoming run. Automatic pH control, automatic feeding, AC/heat controlled via my smartphone, and a float valve to keep water levels up. Basically,all I would have to do is adjust the lights! I've been researching some automation programming that you can control with a simple USB connection. I'll do my best to keep yous guys updated.

must be possible to control the light as well, do you have a webcam up so you can watch your grow 24/7 ?

I have a beater webcam I can hook up. All I would need would be a LiveStream, or Ugolog account and I would be able to check on them anytime/anywhere. I'll be using a free app to control the weather. Not sure how I would go about remotely adjusting the light's height. Only thing that comes to mind is light movers. But, they are designed to work horizontally, and in one long interval. Maybe I could modify one.

could be cool to have some sort of foto cell fixed on the light, that automatically keep the light at a fixed distance from the top of the canopy, Ooh well might be a bit too much to put in to it

Caramello by Delicious seeds. It's been in the ground since June. There could be frost here anytime in October.

Keep it growing. After the first frost, check on her and see how she took.... if she's not showing any signs of frostbite.

You need to judge full maturity by your trichomes. When there are 0% clear trichomes left you can harvest. You can harvest with more cloudy than amber, 50/50 of each, or more amber than cloudy. your choice.

Get a jewelers loupe or a digital microscope to get the best view of the trichomes.

damn it, just snapped one of my 10 week`s old M-lined Veg plants down the middle well I started the crack anyway (sorry no pictures, was busy saving it)

had to act fast and tape it up with some masking tape (painters tape = paper tape) to keep it from continuing to crack down from the weight of the steams, actually I had to chop the top 5" of the tops (made clones out of the side shots, 8 clones)

question is now, as I have`t been in this situation before, do I need to do much els the keep the tape on for now ?

anybody with any experience ? think I once read that you could use bee honey around the cut, dunno ? just wanted to here you Ppl. if anybody had any experience

If it's just a crack, masking tape will get the job done. Make sure the seal is nice and tight, and try not to stress. I've cracked tons of stems during rushed LST sessions (and even split them entirely away from the plants in some cases). But, a little masking, or even duct tape will do the trick. I usually leave the band-aid on for the rest of the grow, but after a few weeks, she'll more than likely be fully recovered. May also want to water with some superthrive to help ease the shock.
