K so do to problems at the home front :wall: will be doing my first outdoor grow this season. Live in Alaska where the sun doesnt really set but for like 2 hours in the summer so will be growing autos, have 11 60 Day Wonder (fem) and 3 Purple Jem (reg).
I will most likely have to start outdoors from seed and according to this

Each winter, on average, your risk of frost is from October 18 through April 19.

Almost certainly, however, you will receive frost from November 1 through April 3.
You are almost guaranteed that you will not get frost from May 4 through October 4. Your frost-free growing season is around 182 days.
Gonna try and post a poll on this so what you guys think
Go with 4/20 or hold off till May 4?

Seems like an unnecessary risk. Be patient and sow later. You could start them indoors and they'd be ready by the time the frost is gone. That's what I'd do, personally.

id try and start indoors as much as possible, i grew with a friend last year, he put his seeds directly into the ground and got a meer fraction of what i got from my harvest with the same genetics, plus your plants stand a much better chance if they are already standing up straight with some strength. IF you are going right into the ground id say wait till may just cause even a small frost would kill a seedling

Yeah I would to but its not safe for me to have plants of any size indoors right now so i can't

Edit: Almost forgot this is my 420th post =D

I did vote! I vote 4 twankie! But, u know ur weather better than us. Id say go wit ur gut..
Lol actually I just moved here may 5th last year so I dont know the weather at all :dunce:

You don't have the privacy to hide a cfl and a Jiffy thing the size of an egg carton? If there's a will, there's a way.
Its not that my last grow was indoors and was destroyed by my babies momma who i have to continue to live with for at least 6 more months long story go over it in my old journal how id grow if i grew but yeah after ur comment though on u having a much higher yield with same strain think i might be hitting up a few homies to maybe start them indoors at there place.

Hey Delux one other thing I believe I was told by oter gardeners that most bugs don't like the taste of the basil I believe they said that Thai Basil worked best. Just what I heard I don't know for a fact. Have to look more into it.

Do u live in kenai, mat su or fbks....make a diff. I can't see planting a clone anytime sooner than 2nd wk of may for mat su or kenai. xtra cold this year u know. When u see broccoli established in Palmer (big field by the palmer golf course) thats when its safe. The farmers know....

Aight, simple fix! Start half on 4 Twankie, the other half lata. If somethin starts eatin ur buds, youll still have the new ones to fall back on. Plus, harvesting 12 plants in one day sux! Stagered...

Hey Delux I'm excited for you to get your shit going! And I bet your even MORE excited! haha, where I live the last frost date isn't untill May 25th! So I'm gonna be waiting untill then to plant my outdoor crops... I just want to take zero risk of my girls getting killed because we have some crazy weather here and who knows when it's gonna snow again! haha, I'd wait for the last frost date to plant. Unless you've got an abundance of seeds... Cuz then it wouldn't matter as much if some die off...

I'll be tagging along for this!

Id grow Purp about 2-3 weeks before 60day. Males will show nuts fast, very fast with autos. If she isnt ready, when he is, collect the nuts, stash some pollen in a Carmex jar. Wait til shes ready, thr jizz all over her. U might want dif locations, so u dont get all dem chickz knocked up!

Hey Delux. I just thought I would stop by. You should still start in May to be safe.
