Strain: Church (Greenhouse Seeds). Started from Seed.
Grow Area: Outdoor, Partly shady with sun in afternoon. Moderate climate
Grow Medium: Pro-Mix + Top Soil + Cow Manure in 3 foot diameter hole
Stage: About 3-4 weeks into flowering - Start of September at approx 45 N latitude
Watering/Fertilizer: Cheap 20-20-20 solution once a week unless raining. All other water comes from rain which is about 2-3 times per week.
Problem: About a week ago (approx. 3 weeks into flowering), 3 of 10 outdoor plants started showing dark spots on leaves and what appears to be bud rot on about 1/2 the plant, mostly near the bottom and middle of the plant. What appears to be rot (brown in color) is actually coarse and dry to the touch (as opposed to mushy like other small patches of rot i have seen). There are 6 strains in the garden with 3 that are The Church by greenhouse seeds. All the Church plants have shown the same symptoms (some to a lesser degree though). None of the other plants in the garden seem affected by this even though some are rubbing against branches of the affected plants. All the plants were started directly from seed with proper packaging. The other plants are a variety of indica/sativa mixes, some very similar to Church. I have been monitoring them for about 10 days and i've seem it spread very slowly although the initial outbreak happened within about 2 days (while i was away of course). The seeds are scattered throughout the patch (1 on either side and 1 in middle).
History: I have grown in this spot outdoors for 5 years and never had this problem. I've also been growing for over 15 years. I also took 2 of 5 church seeds and grew them indoors without any problem. I also took clones off all affected plants which have already flowered and were great smoke. This leads me to believe that it is not a problem with the strain itself or the particular seeds i got. The plants affected are close to 9 feet tall and very bushy. Other than the affected areas, they seem very healthy.
Actions: I have stopped fertilizing the plants completely and i am keeping an eye on them daily (they are close by and can visit several times a day). I have inspected the leaves and bud under a 30x magnifier and did not see any bugs or pests. I do not want to chop off the affected areas unless absolutely necessary.
Any suggestions would be great. Also, if more info is needed, please let me know.
