Give them veg nutes a couple of times once they start flowering. Avoid bugs by going indoors. Otherwise watch for specific insects for getting advice on effective measures. Do sprinkle diatomaceous earth liberally around the plants to discourage crawlers. Slugs love to drown in beer traps if you suspect snails. Get a duck or some chickens and let them have free reign walking. No bugs.
