outdoor cab grow

I started my cab grow in early October from seed. Now i am in week two of 12/12 and things seem to be going well. My only problem is trying to find a way to heat them in the colder months coming up with out frying the little guys. The cab is 2.5'x3'x3' I made from an old dresser i found on the side of the street. I was thinking of maybe like a heating stone from the pet store may do but I'm not sure. anyone have suggestions? I have included some pics so you can kind of see what I am working with

Instead of spending money on just a heat source I personally would look into getting more lighting. Something like an hps would produce way more heat than the CFLs you have, possibly enough to counter balance the cold winter air. If those aren't in your budget, you could go with cheap halogen floodlights instead, 300 watters are around $35. Halogens aren't typically used for growing because they arent very efficient and create way too much heat but that would be more of a solution than a problem for you.

He's gonna need heat when the lights are out too.......I vote for insulation and a heater of some sort, along with heat from the lights on period :peace:

Thanks for the good advise, but Abiqua is right. I need heat after the lights are out. Insulation is a great idea!!!

It is not about who is right or wrong ,but about helping you without a lot of wasted effort, but thank you. An empty fridge is almost ideal here and all you need to really do if your insulation is good in box, is keep the root zone above 60F or so. A little heater on a thermostat might be able to do this evenly throughout the "off" period.

Very true about the lights out, that slipped my mind. I know they sell small car heaters that can mount on dashboards, I'd imagine if they can keep a car warm then they'd be able to keep your cab warm. One of those might be good as well since it won't take up much space.

Hmm... extra heat needed. Is the cab in your room or outside in the shed/garage?
If it was your room your easiest option would probably be a space heater with a timer. Then just sit and figure out whether you need it to be on for an hour and then off for an hour and so on.

The cab is outside. I decided to run the lights at night and use that for a heat source through the night daytime temps are ideal this time of year

It's been almost a week after i transplanted them and flipped the light schedule and they are looking pretty good.Still waiting for them to show sex, but i figured i would post some pics and keep you guys updated. Humidity is high as hell, but i am working on a solution for that and I am still gonna have to get a heat source winter is coming early this year :oops:. I am pretty happy with them as of now and I cant wait till they start to flower :bigjoint:
