Mahalo Sheckter, I'm new at growing, can you tell me how can I test to see if the PH is low or high?
the best tool at your desposal would be a PH Pen. Hanna by far makes the best PH pens in my opinion. It's the best tool I have purchased in past four years for my horticulture adventure. Having to use "Catchment water" for my plants was a "crap shoot", until I got my pen. Now I water in total confidence!

Yes I would go with what Puna Bud has suggested.. A pH pen will make things easy for you...
You can also use a chemical pH test but that is a huge pain in the ass and often it is not as accurate..

if it helps any , I paid roughly about $120.00 for my Hanna PH Combo Pen. Not only does it give me PH reading, I can do PPM readings too, which is equally important to me. I know the price is a bit steep, but didn't your mother always tell you. "You get what you pay for"!? If the price is to steep, Hanna sells several other models less expensive. Also "Milwaukee [sp] make a PH Pen too at half the price!!!!

I dont have a ph meter but my plants are pretty healthy at least they look healthy. Not showing any signs of stress. Im using "Black Gold" organic potting soil and all my nutes are OMRI.. Question: When growing organic is it necessary to check the ph? Or is it more for synthetic fertilizers and indoor set ups? I know they say you cant burn plants with organic nutes but im just curious as to how they grew before they had ph testers..
