Outdoor growing indoors?

So I have an idea with a shed that i have with dirt floors.

Can I plant them directly into the dirt but use led lights for the lighting? since it’s in the shed there will be no sunlight.

Is there any benefits to planting into the ground vs a pot?

Has anyone done this before?

I may be off base, but consider quality of soil inside a shed.... Likely super hard pack at best, may be played out from previous growing, at worst have contaminants from machinery and chemical storage.... Likely in OK, right?

I do outdoor, surface grow bags, max 10 gal. commercial potting soil 50/50 perlite. Cheap and controlled. Home made.SIP setup, no pumps, purely passive. No lights LoL.

I would love to try your shed, very easy runoff & moisture control. Experiment w LED, CFL, but consider carefully your stealth needs... 100% light tight may be tuff.... and the power costs... Ouch.

Overall, could be a large, secure grow room, ... With insulation perhaps year round !!!

Yes, it can be done and has been done. Till and amend the soil, insulate the shed if you can. You will need to control rh and set up an exhaust.
The plants will grow very quickly since they have unlimited root space. Consider doing a sea of green approach and flower quickly.
