Overcrowding vs filling the canopy

I hear that filling the canopy is how you can get your 1-2lbs per light to get your gpw yield.
if you’re trying to fill your space, wouldn’t there be some over crowding?
At what point would you consider there to be too many plants and/or how are you supposed to fill the canopy?
I would assume the overcrowding is to prevent PM and airflow, but if you were able to control the PM, is overcrowding a problem?

Overcrowding would be where bud sites aren't getting enough light. Overcrowding wouldn't prevent PM, if there are spores in your grow area, it would do the opposite.

Overcrowding has a bunch of negative impacts. Reduced airflow, trapped heat, minimal light to lower bud sites etc. it will defiantly lead to pm issues and causes big troubles in identifying issues like bugs etc.

It is true that filling your canopy is key to large yields. You can fill your canopy by adding more plants or vegging the number you have longer. Often adding a week to your veg will do the trick. Once you start filling your canopy, things like defoliating and LST start to have a positive impact.

This is all strain dependent and involve you know the gear your working with, you should be able to find the right canopy density for high yields.

I would assume you can tell when things are getting too crowded, right? If I do a strip on my plants, I can fit about 18-23 plants in 3 gal fabric pots in my 4x8 table.
Wasn’t sure if that’s too much or not. Trying to get that canopy filled

I wouldnt veg them long, top, or train them at all. Straight sea of green.

Unfortunately I’m gonna have to veg 1-2 more weeks because of certain unforeseen issues.
they are like 8 weeks now. I planned on flipping to flower a couple weeks ago, but yeah....
That’s why I was wondering about how many would be too much/ too big for the space without wasting space.
they are pretty juicy. Each plant has about 7-10colas.
this is the longest I’ve veg something for that long in 3 gals.

Yeah, its gonna be tight. My only advice would be to lollipop them leaving only top sights. And or remove the scrawny branches and keep fewer side shooters. Before flip and a after the strech is done.
