Overdry/Overcure?

Is it possible to overdry or overcure your bud? I know it's recommended to hang for a few weeks...what does extra hanging do other than dry out the bud even more? I've heard you can cure for up to 5 weeks....at a certain point does curing 'stop'?

Drying should take about a week, curing takes a little longer. You are right if you dry it to much it will just weigh less. I have seen information from more experienced growers that say, if you overdry, you can throw some lettuce in a jar with your buds, they will absorb the moisture without getting 'wet'. According to Mogie, one week at 68 to 74 degreees, rh at 50%, about a week, until it is dry enough to be 'smokable in a joint. Place in 'glass' jars and cover. As soon as it start sweating (usually within 2-3 hours) remove the lid for up to a half hour. The colas are usually placed so 'fluffing' them to stir the buds isn't necessary, for the smaller buds you would want to stir them around, so the bottom buds dry too. I do this by dumping them into another empty jar, the bottom buds become the top buds and everybody is happy. I was able to 'cure' the last cola's from my last harvest for a little over a month. You could almost crumble that bud, not quite. That is good bud, don't take my word for it, stop by in a month. We will have to share one, I can't smoke a whole one by myself. VV

Sounds great :) :)

Only reason I ask is because I'm leaving for a few days, and it will be 1 week of hanging tomorrow...I didn't want to throw them into jars though because I won't be here to burp them

I'll probably just keep them hanging...I can try the lettuce trick if needed. Thanks

after a couple of days or so, burping you can seal it up. when i burp my jars i leave them open for half a day at a time. after a week, they can be sealed with no mold. late
