I dont think so. Castro isnt any problem for us anymore. His brother is in power and allowing a slow transition to more capitalistic methods regarding private ownership and commerce. It is pretty impressive how many times he has escaped death and Im sure there are more times then we know about. At this point his remarks were more a appreciation for history then supporting a dictator. Although the comment came out of nowhere.

I don't really think its any of the MLB's business if it had nothing to do with baseball. But his excuse was hella lame. "it didn't translate to English well" um, how long have you been living here?

Tell all that to the 25-30 cubans in the majors right now. The ones who grew up through it all, and have seen what people will do to get OUT of Cuba and away from Castro. Ask them off the record what they think of the comments. There are ALOT of cubans around Miami. I think that given the area of the country he manages in, he got off lightly.

Dont take it like that. I see Castro for what he did and how he maneuvered during the revolution, bay of pigs and the missile crisis. We are not supporting his cause but we are appreciating the place in history he has taken.

i didn't think it was a big deal until i realized he's coaching the marlins and miami is cuba's sister nation.......i want to say its no big deal but i really don't fully know what some cubans went through under his regime throughout the 60's and 70's. i know castro did some good for the nation but i've heard the bad things as well.

Sorry, I took it wrong. Yes they are coming around now, but when you make those comments while managing in Miami, he's lucky it wasn't worse. I understand the appreciation of the history. Interesting stuff.

not really, it is propaganda, the cubans that don't like castro is blown out of proportion intentionally but the fact is they are the minority, sure a lot fall victim to this propaganda especially miami, but really just read any book or watch any movie about Cuba or Castro, hell even the negative ones will show you the truth if you have half a brain... agree to disagree with him on his political stance sure but he is a great man and a hero with a big heart and he did what he thought was best by his people and that's the truth.

Cuba could have been the economic jewel of the Caribbean. Castro did far more harm than good. cn

stalinism? how about socialism........
It ended up as Stalinism. Socialists don't need to go all authoritarian. Castro was an outright Marxist from the start, which qualifies him imo as more than just Socialist, but full-bore Communist. And that was never a good idea. cn

WTF would you know about Socialism, go read a book you mouth breathing tool. One writtem by Karl Marx will give you the footing to talk about socialism.

Stalinism is Fascism, Marx turned in his grave over that shit. SOVIET EMPIRE was not socialist, just like the USA isn't a democracy. Get a clue.
