Packs vs Single Seeds

So I notice many people buy packs of seeds as apposed to buying single feminized seeds, why is that? I assume it is because there is still a chance some won't pop/grow? I've had all 6 of the seeds I planted sprout and because they are different strains i'll have a great variety of smoke. It may also be that I can only flower 3 at a time so no big harvests.

Sometimes "feminized seeds" aren't always feminized. Ive heard people talk about seeds not sprouting or getting male "feminized seeds" ....also some people breed the males.

Also when there not made correctly ( like stressing the shit out of females to find a true female) you get the chance of hermi's, and that sucks donkey balls.

is there a certain time a hermi will form? or is it just anytime you stress it too much basically?

ive had plants show hermie right away and some in the last week or two of flowering. they can pop up anytime.

if they pop up the last week or two of flowering does that mean anything? like the THC will be less or you have to get it away from other plants? I kinda stressed my one plant pretty bad and she's only got a week and a bit left till harvest heh

Your fine if they pop the last week or two becuase its not enough time to really get seeds going.

In my experience feminized seeds aren't any more likely to hermie than regs. I buy lots of single seeds too, just for fun, and I like variety, but if you're going on a "pheno" hunt to find that special plant, you might have to go thru several packs. Depending on the strain, there could be many different phenos, and with only one seed, you're stuck with the luck of the draw....which often turns out to be pretty nice.

^^^^^Exactly^^^^. There can be wide variations within one pack of female seeds. It's definitely not enough of a peek inside to know if what you grew truly represented the strain. S-1 seeds will exhibit less variety and be more like the plant they were sourced from....but even then there can be variations. It's no big deal in the end but it always blows me away to see someone say " ______ strain sucks...it's nothing like what was shown in the breeder decription/sales blurb" and then see that they've only grown out one seed from that strain.

Buying an entire pack also means that if it is good shit....you have a lot more chances of finding a keeper or knowing that down the road you have a quality strain to pop yet again. Some of this stuff is only offered once/on a limited basis. Grab them while you can is often the mode of operation for many.

You can buy single seeds of many true breeding strains. Mr nice's shit basically has only one pheno. Karma og will get the same result. White widow, black domina, ice, etc etc.
A lot of old time strains will stand toe to toe with the new flavor of the month without the crappy pheno hunt.
You loose the likes, and subs, when growing those but you'll get the plant as described and likely a personal head stash.
Single seeds caught a bad rap with outfits like thc farmer, and seed supreme swapping out bag seed and selling it. But seedsman and midweek are reliable.

I got a hso chemdog from seed supreme that ended up an autoflower, never again.
But midweek and seedsman have consistently given me the strain as advertised.

Edit, attitude and herbies have come through legit as well.

I will only buy sealed breeder packs. 2 people own and run attitude. Not sure if there is other help but imagine the chances of getting the wrong seed. Easy to make a mistake.

And that is if they are always honest when filling orders.

Also with most feminized seeds there will be different pheno types in every pack for variety.

I plant 1 at a time every week to 10 days perpetually but out of breeder packs or my own s-1's.

1 they come in packs
2 never know when that company will go bust or give up
3 might want to grow them again, being from the same batch makes it more likely to be the same

And all above reasons. Plus it is cheaper

And you get better freebies usually when you buy packs. And you also get more seeds to play with.
