Pandora's Box, Querkle, Dairy Queen in Super Soil

DQ 1 was spreading her wings a bit too much and threatening to take over a big chunk of the room so I had to get in there and tie her up tonight. I basically just bent each of the four main stems sideways in "crop circle" style. That will keep her at bay for a while. My shoulder seems to be healing nicely from the ligament tear so hopefully I can get a photo shoot going in the next week or so. I did manage to move the DQ in and out of the room with one hand but it was sketchy - almost dropped her a couple times, which would have been tragic...

Quite a bit has happened since the last update. First off, the humidity was getting out of control in the grow room. I've never had this much plant mass in the room at any one time. My previous grows were perpetual, so there was always a variety of plant sizes in the room and the humidity never went above 65%. Now that we have 5 bushes going at once the humidity kept topping out at about 85%. I went to my favorite store in Boulder (McGuckin Hardware) and bought a de-humidifier for the room. Now we're keeping the humidity under 55%. Problem solved.

I also decided to give them a shot of Earth Juice nutrients to keep the calories up as they come out of the stretch and into heavy bud production. I think I'll give them another shot in a couple more weeks. I decided to do this, even though I'm running SuperSoil, because they are in 4 gallon pots, with extra perlite in the SS (to keep moisture levels in line with the autopots) and they are getting to be pretty big. I don't know if the extra food is necessary, but I've got it sitting around and figured it would be better used on the plants than going bad on the shelf.

Still don't have full use of my left arm so I had to take these shots with the plants in the room. I hate the HPS glare...

Here's a closeup of a Pando flower. She's starting to show signs of frost already...

are the fan leaves already yellowing?
No - that's the HPS glare making them look yellow. The plants are all nice and green. They do look pretty yellow in these pictures though. Hopefully I'll be able to pull them out of the room for a better picture in the next week or so.

Thanks Jgould. I've got a good scent management system so "bring on the funk!"

Here are some better shots taken at lights out.

I do see a bit yellowing on the Pando. Not sure if that is stress-related or if she's hungry. The exhaust from the dehumidifier was blowing on her. I moved it around so, if it was causing stress, it should not bug her any more.

Awesome updates man. You are starting to convince me about the autopots, those plants are looking VERY happy. Looks like you're managing your "trees" quite well. I can't wait for that Querkle to purple up.

Big ups yerself. Can't wait to see that Pandora. I got some seeds for my brother in law who took them back to Hawaii and ended up not growing them. I'm tempted to reclaim them, and give them a go as I've never tried the strain and hear it's nuts. In the meantime, tho, I'm subbed. +rep :peace:

I really want to see what those dairy queens will end up looking like because I was thinking about getting some of them for a grow in the not so distant future well any way I'm subbed and will be watching to see how this turns out

Thanks for the comment Bobo. Pando is the only one of these strains I've smoked and it is excellent. If I were you I'd be planning a trip to Hawaii to get those beans back...

Thanks Snafu. I have had no problems with any of the plants. They've all been happy and healthy the whole way through. I think the Pandora could take anit more supersoil. I used a little under 2/3 of a pot. Next time I'd give her at least 2/3.

Excellent to know. Thanks, +rep for the pandora suggestion. I was only going to do 30%, guess Im going to up it to 66% now. Ill be using a 5 gal container, smart pot for air pruned roots. Ill also be supplementing with roots exculerator and great white mychrrizae, as I am growing for personal meds for quality over quantity.

I used Great White for the first time this run and am happy with it. It is much more cost effective than the Oregonism I used before. I'm of the same mindset as you on quality vs. quantity. I'd rather be dry than smoke bad bud...
