Panicky Ex-Smoker Comeback, Looking For Certain Effect

So I'm an old-school smoker, and I've largely slept on the culture for the past 15 years (sans one panic induced joint a few years ago in Berkeley). I informally gave it a rest because it turns out smoking more than Jamaicans every day for a decade starts to lose its novelty. That, and the stuff (high grade, high-thc hydroponic stuff virtually as potent as bud form stuff now, but less scientifically ID'd) started having the reverse effect, inducing panic and paranoia. Still, even in those later days I credit trees for flashes of creative inspiration that my artistic work could benefit from a taste of today. So I'm about to jump back in the ring with this stuff after years of inactivity.

I notice that I'm able to handle it better if I don't try to hit the ground running with--as Louis CK called them--jean jacket wearing Bad Company hits. Even that joint in Berkeley a few years ago I took home and nursed over the course of a few days until I noticed it felt less and less like sticking my finger in a light socket.

The plan: Use the card I just got at a dispensary in SF to pick some stuff up to kick-start my flagging creative engine.

The problem: I know Sativa forward stuff is usually the most creatively inspirational, but it's also the most panic inducing. I need to be able to harness this without feeling like I just smoked an ounce of Garey Busey's liver.

Any suggestions at what to buy from this menu?

thats a great line i laughed lol

i think you can still be very much creative with indica strains,
i like to write personally, or do photography

my suggestion being its gunna be how you smoke it,
start slow and only smoke a little at a time really, role yourself a good old fashion joint and just smoke a little bit at a time , no point in going straight for a gas mask bong. lol

i used to get extremely bad anxiety attacks from smoking, it got so bad i had to stop for a few years actually, i ended up slowly easy myself back into it once i had handled my actual anxiety problems
if it were me id go for the https://www.stickyguide.com/dispensaries/grass-roots-collective/products/sugar-cookie--4

good luck best wishes and welcome to riu

Find an indica that doesn't knock you out (northern lights?) and start small with one-hitters or something

Not mainliner. That would be my bet.

I hope you find something that works. I have found these to really vary person to person. I think the best thing is to smoke them all and pay very careful attention.

I disagree with above people I used to get anxiety pretty bad from smoking then i found the go to strain for me.. Durban Poison, which is sativa and goes against the anxiety strain grain... I dont get that heady feeling where I think about all the shit wrong with my life.. It just lifts me up and allows me to go about my day doing things mindlessly just like the guy from office space asks for.
