Parabolic reflectors

I am thinking of switching from the standard cheap reflectors that I change every 6 months to white parabolic reflectors with the bulb vertical.
The reason I want to change is to stop wasting money on new reflectors and just clean the white reflector when necessary.
Any points to consider before I do this? I believe I will have better light spread and less light lost to the walls and also eliminate the need to keep replacing and cleaning the aluminium that becomes dull over time.
Anything to consider before I make this move?
Thanks

If it's just keeping the Ali clean you could use this, I use it on my polished alloy wheels which are uncoated.
It stops dirt build up and leaves them mirror finish.

Has anyone experienced any noticeable increase in yield just from using closed end reflectors compared to the standard cheap aluminium open ended type?
