Parting rockwools slabs to fit in 11 liters pots?

Hi plan to grow in rockwool but the one i got is in long slabs. Can I part it in pieces to fit in the pots? and would u press it to be tight or just let it be quite loose?

and second question, I got a room of 160x250 cm with 4x600 w lamps. How many plants would u put ? I got 11 liters pots..I was thinking 40, is that too many ?

You can break up rockwool however you want, but do not squeeze it or you will ruin its water retention/draining properties.

40 is probably ok if you are doing a short veg SoG. I think the average size of a plant after 12/12 stretch with a couple weeks veg is prob about 80-90cm tall and in diameter more or less... that is just to give you a very rough idea.

I will have mostly indicas , but i was planning to do 4 weeks veg then switch to 12/12 in this case do you think 40 is too much?

my tent is 160x250 cm and the 40 pots are next to each other but there's still a bit of space between them
