Light turns the plants roots into plant instead of roots. THat's why if you have exposed root mass it starts to turn green, same color as your stems. On bigger plants it'll turn into the same texture as the tree that the main plant is. SO if you want your roots to drink, keep em in the dark yepits been proven that light does stress roots. i was stubborn my first time cuz the plants looked fine too.
trust me, just put some tape over the clear pots.
Yep, your plant may stop growing because the roots see the light and start turning green or into a plant themselves and stop taking in water and nutes and at that point it's too late. They can't go back to being roots once turned, it can also cause mold and a pneumonia plant fungus on your roots overnight and then it's all over. You may not have these problems, but if you want a good healthy plant you should grow it how it's been growing since the dawn of man with the roots in a dark environment. But if you just out to see how far your plant can go before it's dead or what kind of results you'll get, more power to ya!! Another very likely outcome is the stress caused by exposing the roots to light is a male plant. I had a friend years ago growing in milk jugs and 2 liter bottles he had about 20 plants and every one of them were male. Thats a lot of time and energy to watch your roots circle the bottom of a container unless you truly don't care It is cool to watch thoughI prolly will when they got a good rootwall but for now i wanna watch them, i know roots don't like light but i just choose to keep them clear for now =) thx for the input tho most people say nothing
