PC for a tent, am I missing something?

So I've been growing 1 plant at a time in a DIY cabinet with CFLs and a 100 watt LED for flowering, and it has been working great but I asked a mate of mine to bring me a tent on his next trip home so that I can grow non-Autoflowering strains and SCROG the one plant for max yield.

The tent is ~2ft x 2ft x 5.5ft = 22 cubic feet. If a PC fan is said to move 65 CFM with a 10% margin of error (let's assume 58.5) plus another 30% reduction for the duct (40.95 CFM), will it be fine since 40.95>22 or is it not that simple?

So, Am I missing something? are my calculations wrong?

Things to consider:
1- noise must be kept to a minimum at all costs but smell is somewhat tolerable.
2- I will add a slightly less powerful fan for intake to retain negative pressure.
3- this is all assuming I can keep the temps in check.
4- I am one broke sandn***er in a country under sanctions; so, any fancy solutions are out of my league.
5- I might be able to afford a more powerful PC fan that can less than double the pull mentioned above.

Any help, advise, suggestion and/or criticism will be highly:eyesmoke: appreciated.

I can't recommend PC fans. They're usually noisy, and if not noisy then they're expensive. I once grew a tiny crop in a 2x2x4 tent and i ventilated it solely using PC fans... Heat was always an issue. But if that's the only thing you can do... well... That's ok, it will work out, you will yield, but you're going to have to pay constant attention to your grow.

I'm growing in fairly hot weather so take that into consideration too.

When i did it, i used 4 80MM fans to blow into the tent and 1 120MM fan to exhaust. I made a lot of mistakes in the grow, especially flowering way too early, so I ended up with 3.4 ounces of good stuff, but i could have gotten up to 6 ounces if i had vegged my plants long enough. I also had to harvest early because the heat was making mold show up in a few buds... Ended up losing more than half an ounce due to mold.

If by some trick of magic you could get this Fan, then it would suffice by itself and VERY QUIET if you run it under 70% capacity.

I use it on the same tent, without fans for intake, just a small fan inside the tent for circulation, and it creates enough negative pressure at 50% capacity to suck the tent in, and keeps the temps way lower than the PC fans.

Best of luck friend.

Wow, cheers mate, great advice. I checked out the fan you recommended and it seems like the best way to go. at the moment getting it in Iran would set me back about 50 USD whereas the PC fan will cost me 12 USD max. but I'll surely get something along those lines in the future. thanks for your amazing advice.

best of luck to you as well

If you do use them, make sure to attach them with the little rubber grommets they make for fans instead of screws.
This isolates a lot of the noise.

wow, great tip. now I haven't seen those over here but I'm sure I can MacGyver something along those lines.

cheers mate.
