PC grow box newbie needing advice

Hello everyone,
Was wondering if I could get some help from you guys?....

My set up is a small, simple, first time grow in a pc case. My medium is soil and extra's perlite etc etc

My lights 85w 2700 cfl and a 20 cfl

My temp is about 75

my humidity is about 55/60

and my choice of grow is a nice cheap pair of fem lowryders from the joint dr

My questions are as follows, my plants have been growing for about 3 weeks nearly now. they are about a couple of inchs tall and have a good few leaves.

1. during the grow the plants have been about 2 inches away from the lights, I know these only grow 12 if lucky so am I right to keep them at this distance or do I need to lower them to increase height??? three weeks in they seem short, although I've read they can shoot up. Or am I stunting them with the lights so near?

2. there are man small shoots growing under the bigger leaves, despite this been three weeks old, do I LST these now or leave them, if I need to train them, whats the best way.

many thanks on any future help.

1. keep them as close as you can, they will grow more.
2. lst as soon as you can. remember to do it before a watering so the stem isn't full of water and snap.

No the closer a light can be kept to the top of a plant the better. The yeild will be far less if the plant is allowed to strech you need the node's nice and tightly formed.I use flouresent tube's for my clone's before they go undr the t5's and the plant's can have leaves touching the tube's and there is no burning to the leave has long has you use cool white daylight spec also get these in cfl lighting.
