PC "Grow Room" Build for future Lowryders.

Hello all, looking through Ilovatoke inspired me to use my old pc project and turn it into a grow room, hence limited space and parents. I took a case that I bought from the store like 3 years ago for one of my classes in school. I never did anything with it and it just sat in the attic, so I will put it to good use instead!


I took motherboard and basically all components off. (look at pic 2)

After that, I used insulation that is used in cars.. (my brother and i restore rabbits.. aka volkswagens) so I had a little insulation left over. I didn't think of the heat, and the possibility of melting but I will put the insulation 5 inches away from my lizards light (which gets HOT) for a few hours to see what happens, if not I have some aluminum tape laying around somewhere. (look at pic 3)

I had a half page typed and accidentally hit the back button . I'll try to summarize everything.
I'm basically almost done with making the reflective surfaces.. used insulation because of the reflective material, not for the insulation itself. I did the bottom and the right side with insulation and I plan to spray paint the top and the left side with glossy white spray paint to reduce the temp at least a little bit by not using the insulation material.
I plan to use the least lights possible at around 400w.. if its too little I have enough space for lights to add up to 600w or so.
I will finish making the sides reflective by this weekend, hopefully. (work sucks)
I also want to install the lights before the ventilation system so I can do a few test runs to get temp. readings and get the right ventilation system. I will run 2 computer fans with a home-made battery pack (rechargeable) to add a little extra flow.. both will be intakes and will have a bigger(plug in wall socket) exhaust with a home made carbon filter (which I will try to show how to do as well).

I will also only be growing 1 LR to begin with and learn...

Thanks man, I'm going to go pick up the light system today, will rig box to hold 4 bulbs but may only run 2 and progress as I go.. I have decided I will do some LST with bagseeds first, to at least get a good idea. I have some mini water pumps laying around the house.. will look into HP for future grows..

Here are some more materials I just got:

- Digital Thermometer/Humidity Reader
- 4 - 60w cfls
- Power Strip
- Dimmer (thought I could rig as speed controller.. but its a bad idea so a waste of $5)
- 4 "socket-to-socket" sockets. lol.

I basically finished the box.. i only need to patch a few more cracks so the light stays in completely.. like little screw holes and what not.. and also my carbon filter that ill be making soon.
I planted 3 bagseeds but I did it in Moisture Control MG soil.. I put a little bit of water in there.. and when I came back 7 hours later from work.. was completely dry. Whatever.. was a test run but got a little excited and planted bagseeds for the hell of it.
Im running 3 60w CLFs.. I'm only growing 1 plant so I'm sure that will be enough? The space is like.. 22x26x8.. or something like that.
Also have 1 intake fan and two exhaust fans.. after a 7 hour run, I was at a steady 81F..
I will properly plant some bagseed and get this first happy/exited bug out!!

I used a little transformer like this:



I cut the cables and just connected hot to hot and neg to neg.
All 3 fans are running from 1 transformer.. the more fans you add the lower rpms they will run.. so if you want QUIET.. hook up like 6 fans to 1 transformer and you will be g2g. I have 3 on there.. 1 for intake and 2 for exhaust and my temps stay at 81f.
As for the odor, I will make a carbon filter sometime soon with activated charcoal, a shaker (ones for like protein supplements and stuff) and some fabric softners.

Today is day 1 of the grow.. here are the facts:

Seeds: bagseeds (4)
Soild: MG moisture control (best I could do)
Nutes: I'll research more on the subject since I won't even start nutes after 3 weeks or so.. maybe a bit longer.
LST: Yes
Prune: maybe
Lights: 3 60w CLF's
Water: Plain bottled water until I add nutes
Light Schedule: 12/12 from seed

I would upload pics but they have not sprouted yet.. I'll post some hopefully tomorrow..
