Perlite or Vermiculite? (For Cloning)

FDD said straight perlite. Why not both, since they offer different qualities. I use soil mixed with both & a lot of other shit. My chose, straight perlite. Don't let it dry out.

thanks for all the suggestions, everyone :) I will make one thing for certain: not to mix soil in with the perlite or vermiculite while I am rooting my clones.

perlite-In horticulture it makes composts more open to air, while still having good water-retention properties; it makes a good medium for hydroponics

Vermiculite-
Blocking mixes
Hydroponics
Micro-propagation
Potting mixes
Rooting cuttings
Seed germination
Seedling wedgemix
Sowing composts
Twin scaling bulb

I also believe it contains micro nutes to help.

:peace:

I use a mix of 1/3 each - neutral soil, perlite & vermiculite. I use the same mix for the whole process. It has worked well for me.

Vermiculite is best for cutting I have experienced. Never tried perlite as it's more for bringing AIR to the roots and AIR kills your cuttings.

i know old thread but wanted to put down my experience

I have always used both with 100% success. I mix it 50/50 and wet it with an olivias mixture. Water from top as needed, and spray the foilage 1-2 times a day.

I think perlite can also help with stagnation, helping prevent mold. Different strokes for different folks.
