PH dropping in Hydro Rez

Hey guys,

I have been growing in DWC for a couple years now and I have run into a problem that I can't figure out.

I use the full Aqua Canna Nutrient line along with Calmag and Aquashield

I use RO water (just changed the filters)

Air temp is consistently in the low 70's

The res temp flux from 68-73F

5 gallon rez 2 stock plants about 4 weeks old from seed.

I had a mold issue but I have since removed the subfloor that was infected with the mold and replaced it with new sub flooring. I cleaned my tents with a light bleach solution as well as the sub floor in the entire room. I also have an air cleaner and ionizer in there now to make sure any mold spores floating in the air are taken care of. I have since seen no signs of mold on my plants.

However, ever since the mold issue my PH in my rez is fine for a few days after a rez change and then the ph begins to drop 1 to 1.5 points in a 24 hour period to 4.5-4.9 if I adjust it backup to 6 it simply drops again.

I also bought all new nutrients thinking I might have a bottle that went bad.

I have been spraying these plants every 7 days with Serenade just in case (per the instructions on the bottle) (stuff is organic)

Still no changes.

I'm seeing rust spots all over my leaves as a result of the PH flux

Any ideas what might be happening?

Ok first, next time use silicon and Pondzyme as part of nuts. Second get a chiller and keep res at 65.you want to prevent. Once it's there.. It gonna we a battle. Second your Rez' are small so ph will fluctuate. Should be going up but since you got disease issues.. It will go down, and you will suffer lockout from the content ph instability.

On this grow, flush every thing.clean buckets with bleach. Flush roots. Clean sides of net pots. Make New Rez. add silicon and ponzyme, aquasheild. keep temps low.. Thats all you can do

Next grow figure how use one much larger Rez and add a chiller and use silicon ponzyme aquasheild.

I hear you. I'll give those products a try for sure. I did a through cleaning of everything in the rez with bleach about a week ago. The rez was fine for 3 days and then the ph drops strated on the forth. Thanks for the input.

I completely replace the rez, all pumps, gromets, plastic tubing etc everything that was attached to the rez was replaced. Problem solved. I think there must have been some bad bacteria or mold stuck in one of the pumps or soft plastic parts.

I run a small reservoir and he is right on a few things.

1. Cooler water is a lot better for plants. Who wants to drink hot water after a marathon race? Cold is good, but not too cold as it will shock the plant.
2. Your PH will rise and fall more and more as the plant(s) get bigger in size. However, "It will go down, and you will suffer lockout from the content ph instability"isn't completely true. You see, cannibis' optimal hydroponic range is 5.5-6.1. Optimally, 5.8 is your number. Reason being, Ca and Mg are able to be absorbed at a 5.8 PH at the same time. Deviance in PH will make it harder for one or the other to be absorbed. See Attached Photo. Letting your PH wander is not such a bad thing if you are there to consistently and constantly monitor it. As long as you can juggle it in the 5.5-6.1 range, you will be fine. The plant will uptake nutrients along the way.



Your numbers of 4.5-4.9 are pretty dead on. I can have a 5.8 average PH at the end of the night, top off with water to 6.1, and within' 9 hours, its at about 5.2.

The culprit, they are drinking a lot of water bro. Try to keep it in the 5.5-6.1 range, and don't deviate for too long (more than 12 hours) otherwise, you will begin to notice nutrient lockout and once you get it back to 5.8, it'll take a day or two of recovering for them to get back to the program.

The smaller the system, the faster the changes happen, and can be corrected.

The bigger the system, the more stable the PH will be.
