Most PH meters are not water proof. lol I broke my 4th one a couple of nights ago. In total I have spent ~ $140 on PH meters.
I always keep my ph meter in a separate glass and am careful not do anything over my res (learned this lesson before as well).
Anyway a couple of nights ago I was doing my normal routine and then leaned over my clones and took a step back... right into my PH Meter and cup, knocked the thing over and now it will not hold calibration. It just jumps around.
I have tried calibrating it every night the past three nights and have now given up (I can't trust the reading. i.e. I have a log book and cross reference where my PH should be at. It is way off not just a little). Luckily my hydro guy let me barrow his dropper while he orders me a waterproof one for $80 bucks.
Just sucks cause with everything that has broken already I can almost buy two of these things.
Please tell me I am not alone, lol.
