there is no name on it. I got it from the local hardware store. Says only made in china. $12.99.

Well I tell ya what I'd do then. Go to a hydro store or ebay, and buy yhe cheapest ph test strips you can buy, and test it against the strips and see how close the two are to each other. PH strips are very cheap.
