Ph pen calibration question

Hey guys really quick question
Just got a ph pen trying to calibrate but don't know which water to use as the instruction book says to use distilled water but the ph solution packs they sent say to mix it in deionised water so ye which do I use distilled or deionised water really hate when instructions contradict themselves

Distilled water is water that has been purified, and de-ionized. De-ionized water has been de-ionized only. Use distilled water if you have it.

That said, for calibration, it is far easier to buy the control liquid (it usually comes in 4.0 and 7.0 pH levels) for how often you need it. I tried making my own solution, but it doesn't store well and the pH goes out of whack in quick order.

Agreed.
Best answer would be to use reference solutions as well as storage solution.
Keeping the probe in the storage solution and periodic calibration checks will make it last as long as possible.
